@rob, you are right. But it would t be the end of the world as long as we are improving as a team, players are settling and the foundation in set for the following season. Look at Arteta, its taken him 4-5 seasons to win the title, some of those seasons he didnt even make top 4.

Yeah i know you never sacked slot you charles and theres many factors and targets he didnt meet and thus sacked… one of those targets would be not challenging for the title, or kore importantly for me, not utilising the squad as a whole.
So with Iraola coming in and more money spent you would expect the same scrutiny that slot received(in a transitional year)… so expectations should be that iraola at least challenges for the title? Right?
And while we’re at it, whats your expectations from iraola this season after being the BIGGEST net spenders in an already crazy window(tottenham, chelsea and city addidng players).

Asian the only thing Slot did right during his time here was not to mess with anything until we won the title, he was not in control for that season, it was the players that directed our tactics up until the moment we won the title and Salah and Van Dijk extended their contracts.
After that moment everything went downhill under Slot, who tried to force his tactics on the team while being found out be the whole league.

My expectations of Iraola is to slowly repair the damage by Slott by upping the intensity and fitness and reduce the backwards passing, the latter we can already see. But with such glaring holes in the team I’d expect fighting for 3rd.

Haha Cheers for the reply threeps… those holes were there all last season thats why i complained straight after the crazy window of last season, but lets leave it at that.
We had no expectations on slot when he came in, maybe that helped in winning the title with less pressure, and im hoping thats the same with iraola.
We have so many top exceptional/world class players in the team. We just need to start winning games and hopefully the ipswich game will be the catalyst for iraola to get his first win.

he had no authority at the club, he was parked next to the Manchester airport to take a quick tour back home, I don´t think he talked to one youth player during his time. One of the most obnoxious head coaches we have ever had. The only right decision he made was not to touch the formula that was working for us until he thought he had become the 2nd coming. He started alienating the fanbase the same week we won the title, that´s how big of ego the man has.

I admit that I saw energy in Chiesa in the beginning of last season (if I remember correctly) and hoped he could perform better than a deflated Salah.
That doesn’t take away the fact that I think we need to replace ”good” Salah and not the version last year – as you seem ok with._____________________________

Chiesa was player of the month for us back in December I think, got called up to Italy, broke down again and limped out of the Italy squad and then hardly played more minutes for us for the rest of the season except one game in January. I think he looks like a 40 year old baller right now. He has only finished twice a full game for us. He is emergency cover in the league and nothing else for 150k a week.

I think asian studies this forum more than actual football, he never states anything except having watched a game beforehand after it got scheduled and then he tries to point out anyone wrong on the forum. We got a few posters that can actually spot a player from a mile off, we got another few posters that can predict a season than the vast majority predicts the lineup after having 20 notifications about who is injured and who is not.

Richard Hughes has left Liverpool.
Got to thank him for recruiting Slot though and winning us the Premier League title totally out of the blue and highly unexpectedly. Hope he’s right about Iraola also.
His overconfidence got the better of him though, spending £240m on Isak and Wirtz, as it’s taken Isak over one year to even get going at Liverpool, while Wirtz hasn’t even truly got started for a £116m player.
Thanks for the league title, at least.
