We need to keep hold of Gakpo. Even as a squad player in the more longer run. Realistically, he’s likely to draw more interest from clubs and he’ll leave.

27th August 2026 at 6:50 pm #254618Players do not lose their value just because of one bad season, I was worried about Villa this season but with Goretzka and Jackson they have a chance

27th August 2026 at 7:14 pm #254620Chelsea for me are now arsenals nearest challengers. With them signing Martinez, they are looking seriously good and with no Europe, will do well in the league.

27th August 2026 at 7:27 pm #254621Tottenham got Marmoush on loan, WOW! Do feel jealous of that as I like him.
Where would this leave City if anything happens to Haaland?

27th August 2026 at 7:32 pm #254623Red Chelsea need an extra 35 points to challenge, it’s never gonna happen. 20-25 points maybe but not 35 points

27th August 2026 at 7:34 pm #254624Redwarrior, that’s an interesting shout re Chelsea. The thing for me is them choosing too play with 3 at the back. They beat Fulham, sure, but they did concede a couple of goals. Martinez would bridge that gap.
If City become a bit hit-and-miss with Maresca, Chelsea look more of the likely ones to challenge the gunners. first 8-10 games could give us some indication.

28th August 2026 at 12:25 am #254647Mac thatΒ΄s why he is half of what Isak and Barcola is, I donΒ΄t actually rate him as a bad player, he is decent but similar to Nunez.
You see everyone here crying out for workrate from our players now after having a full two seasons of slating our number one workers on the field. Half the forum canΒ΄t make up their mind about what kind of player they want, they just want the next superstar.
Just making those runs can open up a play for another player and IMO Jackson does that even if he is not prolific.
He is a good striker for Aston Villa, compare him to Watkins and there is not much difference. I am really curious to see how Goretzka will do in the league, I doubt he is as finished as Schweinsteger when he arrived to the league.
We could have used him as a free agent actually, he could have taken over that number 6 role we need.

28th August 2026 at 6:47 am #254651Watkins has scored 17 or more 4 times in his career and assisted double digits in two of the last three seasons. In worse teams.
Of course, he has age against him – but to me no question who has been better so far._____________________________

28th August 2026 at 8:48 am #254657Rob it wasn’t the “Melwood lean” comment that I took offense to, that is your opinion and entitled to it, it was openly mocking the whole ITK thing. There are many so called ITKs that frankly aren’t, we all probably know one ourselves, but there are a few that I like to think I have the knowledge to place my trust in. Not everything works out, Diomande for an example, but they are always open about why, and their info has proven to be reliable time and time again. Giner knows whom i refer to. So for you to mock them wasn’t on, but we can draw a line under it although I’ll only accept a cyber pint if alcohol free, not drank for almost 5 years now!

28th August 2026 at 8:58 am #254659Said it from the very start that our midfield is the biggest worry and you could see why vs Newcastle. Szoboszlai and Gravenberch want to get forward and with Wirtz already in there plus attacking fullbacks it leaves us open to a fast transition. Different coach and you could see positive changes but that issue remains.
Camara is the latest to be linked, although he isn’t a dedicated no 6. But where does that leave out other midfielders if he or another is signed?
It’s Szoboszlai that’d my concern, I just don’t think he can play as one of the 2 midfielders unless you have an elite, disciplined and tactically aware DM, and none of those are linked.
For me it’s either he plays as right attack but with license to influence in the middle with Wirtz as the 10 and Frimpong/Bradley providing width, or its either him or Wirtz and one drops to thr bench.
Szoboszlai as RW could work with a fluent approach. Barcola likes to get into the box almost ahead of the striker, that could give Wirtz space to operate from the inside left postion. Isak can even drop deep and Szoboszlai uses his physicality to dominate the AM/RW area. Would be like a 4 person rotation.

28th August 2026 at 9:03 am #254660Players evidently are likely to be lured. I would suspect this largely down to of course bling and the ‘advice’ but more suspectedly persuasion from their agents.
I was more pleased with players sticking it out in the Premier finding other clubs and reinventing their Careers. Look at Wellbeck and Henderson for example.
I will lay my cards on the table of the types I prefer and that’s a mixture of experience and players that don’t cost us the earth, but we can make them into Stars.
Injuries and lots of other things have hampered us, but I think under Iraola, we will be on the right path.

28th August 2026 at 12:12 pm #254673Incoming vice-chairman Amit Bhatia: “It feels incredible. It feels surreal when I hear those words, obviously an incredibly proud moment for myself, for my family, for our partners.
Weβre talking about Liverpool Football Club here, right? I mean, weβre talking about the greatest football club in the world. And so to have the ability to be involved in any capacity is a huge privilege and a huge honour.” (lfctv)
All sounds good…
