I think Barcola will sign this week. Talk was PSG were waiting for Akliouche to sign but he plays on the right or central and Barcola on the left (for PSG at least, maybe wont for us). I think PSG are waiting for Godts to sign, left sided attacker from Ajax. Bid submitted today I believe.
Defensive and midfield reinforces has gone quiet, plenty of names but nothing concrete. Most of it is fans like us speculating rather than solid links. Not saying nothing is happening, could be a surprise or two, but it is going to be a nervous few weeks it seems.

3rd August 2026 at 10:48 am #252055We need to build a squad but were still short for a first 11.
We spent 450m yet last seasin yet we still need at least 5 players and theres no way were bringing in 5 before close of window.
Absolutely ridiculous if hones is our rb cover. Frinpong cant play in a back 4 by looks of it and is always injured
Endo, leibi, bajetic are any of these training?

Blame Richard Hughes for squandering £450m with little to show for it.
However, we can still bring in several players in before the transfer window is closed, especially if there are outgoings for big money.

3rd August 2026 at 2:49 pm #252077The harsh reality is that this is where we are. We can pluck out all the other circumstances under the sun. We have failed on squad depth, investment and development of our youth. Recruitment ultimately should be held Responsible in my opinion.

3rd August 2026 at 2:52 pm #252078If, and only if, Nyoni proves to be ready to start as a defensive midfielder in the PL (and it’s a big ask, though not impossible), then one option Iraola may have is to use Gravenberch at CB until one of our three injured CBs fully recover and are ready to play.
Not ideal, and not what I would like, but that is one option available.

3rd August 2026 at 4:46 pm #252093Not a bad shout. We may well be thinking about this on Grav.
Would work better if we was to buy another Defensive Midfielder though.

3rd August 2026 at 8:18 pm #252099Nyoni can pop up in the cups, maybe get a start or two in the league and in the Champions League but he is not gonna get more than 5-10 games. Depending on our cup run mostly, I´ve been praising the lad but let´s be real. Bajcetic is likely to feature in more games and that´s saying a lot. If we do get 5-10 games out of them each or around 500-800 minutes, I would call it a win for both.
Also I reckon a defender is actually a more important position to cover than midfield right now after we sign Barcola.

3rd August 2026 at 10:46 pm #252106Late comment on the game yesterday.
But generally good first half, absolutely terrible second half.
Thought Nyoni, Dom, Wirtz, Isak and Rio strengthened their cases. Ndukwe is raw, but there is a player in there.
Kerkez was sloppy and nervy under pressure. Thought he should cope better.
Chiesa, Jones, Grav were horrible. Disappointed in Jones’ attitude and Grav’s ability. Lots of youngsters too, but can’t blame them. Ramsay and Scanlon somewhat positive, but should be far away from any significant playing time.
Let’s not wait anymore:
Apart from Barcola, we need dm, rb, cbx2 – potentially a rw/cf as well._____________________________

4th August 2026 at 7:32 am #252110Lads we cannit be trying to shoehorn players into positions for cover. We know were we are short.
Macca wants out. Get as much as you can for him gim.jones is done here and gakpo linked to spurs. Sell these and use the money wisely
We cannot see dom or jones (if he stays) at rb. We are very short up top
And rb/cb.We need a 6 but we need to sell macca.

4th August 2026 at 8:43 am #252114Now, once upon a time I said there was a fire sale of talent at LFC, im sure most remember it and the backlash ive taken. FSG have cut costs, cut the squad and cut the chances of winning anything, the ridiculous idea of keeping Slot for as long as we did was to just save money as well.
Now, look where were, look where the squad is. We probably need 4-6 players to have a half decent squad. We have many players once again running their contract down. FSG have saved so much money on wages for Salah, Robbo, #66, and Konate to name but a few..
Yes, FSG have increased their asset, which is great for their pockets, but we, the fans want a winning team!
FSG should be run out of this club, and anyone coming back with ‘we signed Isak for £120m, Wirtz for £100m’…anyone can pay top dollar for a player, a good SD gets those players cheaper
Were is this plan thats supposed to be in place…well, this was the plan. If we cant get 4-6 faces in the door, this season could be a spursy one.

4th August 2026 at 8:56 am #252115If anyone wants to argue that we’re not down to, or a beyond bare-bones squad they can…
If anyone wants to suggest the LFC team is well run, they can…
If anyone wants to suggest or recruitment is good, they can…
But, id argue that FSG have rinced the team and the fans for far to long!

4th August 2026 at 8:58 am #252116All the players you mentioned with exception of robbo wanted to leave moonster chum
I agree we let to many contracts run down but vvd and salah absolutely smashed our wage structure. Average players looking for mad money.
So what owners do you want? You cant just spend what you want. The recruitment team have a lot to answer for. Writz and isak may still come good. Injuries are killing us woth 3 players out with long term injuries. We are short at rb as bradlely injurrd, short at cb as leoni and gomez injurrd but we do need a cb even if they were fit.
Never get the complaints about the pwners. Club is run very well. Its like sll fans want is to spend 500m every summer
Its up to the manager to improve some of the the quality players we but i agree we need bodies in quick but i dont think it would look as bad if so many were not injured
Salah needs to be replaced. We need a 6 but we midfielders players to go.we need a cb and rb cause long term injuries. We need cover up front as eitike out long term.

4th August 2026 at 9:31 am #252118Ask yourself this, why did they all want to leave? Why is it Macca now wants out? Gakpo….and considering the wage he’s on at LFC? How many SD’s we had? What’s the commonality between them all?
Never get the complaints about the pwners. Club is run very well.
I never said the club wasnt well run, it makes a profit every year…the team on the other hand goes backwards all while those profits go up…without pumping that profit into the team.
Its up to the manager to improve some of the the quality players we but i agree we need bodies in quick but i dont think it would look as bad if so many were not injured
Correct, but so far this year we’re 3 players light. No one has replaced Salah, Kostas isnt a Robbo replacement, absolutely not, and he’s only one year left before going on a free, Jacquet might be a replacement for Konate, but he’s coming back from a big injury and still no minutes on the pitch, and even mentioning Gomez being in the team is a waste of time.
How good does a coach need to be to improve a squad that’s so thin and can play 60 top flight games?! My mind boggles!

4th August 2026 at 9:49 am #252119Agree about jaquet. He also has no pl experience. Gomez just doesnt count. We need a cb. Leoni wont be ready for a while. Two young cbs who could be big for us in tye future but we badly need a cb now.
Dom and grav recently signed contracts so some players want to leave. Happens all the time and i dont think to many be upset if macca and gakpo left once they money is reinvested
We have spent plenty of money over the years. Plenty

that’s a very big IF indeed. I said it on the transfer thread, there hasnt been any movement planned on signings, bar, Barcola, the only deal that was set was the Diomande deal. We have massive issues and once again, we go big on one sign to try aplease the fans. No big squad investment planned.
We have spent plenty of money over the years. Plenty
Once again there has been investment, but nowhere near enough. The profit the club has made complately out strips the net spend on signings.
Liverpool’s net spend across the entire FSG era (2010–2026) is roughly £720–760 million, Across the entire FSG ownership period (2010–2026), Liverpool FC have generated a cumulative profit of roughly £120–150 million. These figures are rough, but dont forget this would include the spending on asset improvements, stadium upgrades etc etc…
So, they have ‘made’ £120-150m, but increased their asset from £300m to circa £5bn….

4th August 2026 at 10:27 am #252123Players who’s contract are up in 2027-
VVD will be 35 when contract ends.
Allison will be 34
Gomez will be 30
Tsimikas will be 31
Jones will be 26
Endo will be 34
Bajetic will be 22Not exactly unexpected that players getting older arnt given new contracts.
Gomez is injury prone in the truest sense.
Jones could be out the door this summer.
Bajetic has barely kicked a ball for 2yrs.
Endo hasnt done a great deal either and is currently working his way back from injury. In previous years, you can go right back to Can and Wijnaldum etc, we let players see out their contract.
None of this is new._____________________________

4th August 2026 at 11:01 am #252126Well moonster if we go into the season short and not supporting the manager then questions will be asked
There is a rumour thats it a case of go with what we have until players return from injury which i hope does not happen.

Once the window is shut, there is nothing anyone can do and that leaves us right in the stook! The time to openly question FSG and their operation is right now IMO
So, i believe nest year we have about 9-10 players out of contract…..we wont replace them, unless there is a take over.

4th August 2026 at 4:56 pm #252155Moonster out of those players only three or four are possible up for another contract. Alison is getting older and can stay as long as he wants for my sake but I doubt he will sign another contract extension with us, it´s also gonna be time on Van Dijk possible but he still played around 70 games last season and does not really rely on pace so who knows. Gomez is another case and he will no remain at the club beyond his contract, I love him to bits but there is zero chance he will remain.
Elliott, Jones, Tsimikas on the other hand could impress and be rewarded with a new contract and if Jones leaves the club I doubt many of you will miss him, same goes for Elliott and Tsimikas.
Other than that we got Bajcetic on the list and some other lads.
for the older lads it´s time but one of them might surprise us, I doubt it will be Gomez but Alison and Van Dijk might remain at the club for another season or two. It´s pretty sure to be a family decision for Alison and then Van Dijk will just think about if he can do it again or not. If he is up for it, he will remain, if he feels its time to leave then he will leave.
The man is a machine, let´s face it, he started every game in the league for us last season. I can´t remember if he played 69 or 71 games last season. If he keeps up those numbers, we don´t really have to worry about a replacement for him even if he gets older and bit slower. It´s a bit easier for a defender to play into old age than a forward.
