Maybe it is Sean, or maybe all thr abuse he is getting is affecting him? I just think he had a stinker of a game, it happens. He’s not long back from injury but those games recently he was pretty good. Didn’t see too many issues with the performance or contact issues when we smashed WHU five nil. I think ‘fans’ are just waiting for him to have a bad game to to vent abuse that meets their agenda.
People spend too much time looking at his deficiencies without appreciating what he brings to the game overall. The left full back area is a more pressing concern performance wise to me.

Nil he had a very poor game that’s all, so did a few others. You’re jumping on the “Bertie big balls” bandwagon it seems.
As foe the haters, just take a look at other forums. If I were Trent I’d raise two fingers to these so called fans as I were mounting the steps to a private jet bound for Madrid and no doubt countless medals. Some absolutely terrible ‘fan’ behaviour to one of our own players.

We are not constantly being roasted down the right at all. Before Konate’s injury we were very secure down that side and Trent was playing well both forwards and backwards. That injury and a drop off from Robertson (who I always said wouldn’t suit Slots tactics that well) has led to more chances being created especially today when Konate was all over place at times. I see the Trent haters are out in force but he wasn’t the only poor player today, that 2nd goal was down to Konate.
Going forward we are much slicker and unpredictable, last season we would compress to a very narrow box around the D and it was easy to defend against. Defensively we are more compact. Klopp had the midfield all over the place when possesion was lost which led to many chances to carve the CBs open, now less so although it has crept back a little probably due to injuries.
One area I’d improve is the 2 CM, but instead of getting a DM destroyer like most fans want I’d get a similar athletic player to Grav. Caicedo would have been ideal, but for this season Baleba seems to be the new favorite. MacAllister is good on the ball but not physical or fast enough for the CM role, plus too theatrical, he should play the 10.

Ed, its one game, a game where too many of our players especially st the back where off it. Watch us over the season and you’d see we have been worthy of leading the table. Whether we win it or not only time will tell, but you can’t judge us on the one time you’ve watched us for 90 minutes.
If you watched us at home against Forest you’d be even more underwhelmed. Even the City and Liverpool 95+ point teams underwhelmed at some point.

If you believe what is said then the Liverpool section of the crowd will be influenced by the flights from Norway and Dublin going ahead or not.

Being an ex-pat living on the continent I do laugh at how the uk grinds to a halt because of a little snow. Here in Germany an army of snowmobiles would have cleared everything including footpaths long before most people were awake.
We will find out very soon. But as the trains are back running I’m guessing it’s on.

Sorry should have put the results and performance last season are irrelevant, but can see your point Sean about the expectations. I think most of those last season where from pundits that couldn’t see our inadequacies going forward however. I wasn’t surprised last season but would be if the same happens again.

Last seasons results are irrelevant. We are miles ahead tactically than last season, both going forward and defending. It was very easy for a team like Utd to shut up shop against us.
More relevant is this seasons game at OT which Liverpool won very easily. Utd have changed manager since and whilst he might go on to be a success the early signs are they are worse off.
I think a 3 at the back can be easily got at using Slots tactics and Szoboszlai may be a key player.
I’m not going to say we will thrash Utd as anything can happen in football but I can’t remember being this confident before the match.

Usually you are banned for two matches if it’s your 2nd red card of the season but his first was overturned on appeal so only a one match ban. So yes he returns.

Fully agree Sean, I just don’t understand all the claims his is disloyal. Fulfilling your contract to me is being completely loyal. If fans want to vent their frustration it should be at the club.
Players that fake injuries or go on strike to force a move are the ones fans should have a go at. Especially if they are desperate to move but refuse to hand in a request as that will invalidate their loyalty bonus.

Happy New Year to you too Sean.
I am fairly relaxed at the moment. This should have been done over a year ago but it is what it is. I think VvD and Salah will sign a two year extention and all the current noise points towards that. I also think TAA will sign. There is a lot of negative comments going about him especially from so-called Liverpool fans so I wouldn’t actually blame him if he left. From what I can gather the only outstanding demand he has made is to be captain after VvD. If he goes we will no doubt miss him (despite how the haters put down his game without understanding what he actually brings) but we will adapt and still be a great team.
Have to remember loyalty works two ways, and if these players leave they will have fulfilled their contracts and shown the same level of loyalty the club has shown them. I do not understand all this traitor talk banded about especially towards TAA.

Nil you’re right, Liverpool scoring 6 or more goals against Utd in the Premier League is fairytale stuff.
Oh hang on whats this…

CM you are attracting the wrong players, or those for a certain style and then change that when you replace the manager. Amorim will suffer because he doesn’t have the players he needs for his style and he is reluctant to change to accommodate those he has. So either he will be sacked prematurely or utd bite the pillow for a season and a half and see where they are after he gets what he needs.
Sean, 40 isn’t a magical number, the difference between Slot and Amorim is only a few years and similar experience. You want every manager to be Ancellotti? I remember you said Slot will be fired within 18 months and cited similar reasons so excuse me if I don’t take your reasoning seriously.

Slot is 46. Maresca is 44. Alonso is 43 I think. Nagelsmann is 37 and managed in the Bundesliga when he was 12 or something. Pep was 37 I think we he inherited and enhanced the best club team in history. Age and the job being too big is just a thing fans throw about without any real reasoning. If you’re good enough you’re old enough.
Is Amorim good enough? Or is it the players? Or just a conflict in styles? Can Ineos find out what is to blame and fix it, or should fans start to question them?

I never understand the whole “job too big for him”, based on what, coming from a Portuguese team? Slot came from a Dutch team and that league is lower ranked than the one Amorim came from.
Utd have had big name managers recently and they failed. There’s something underlining at the club that is a receipe for disaster. I think it’s a combination of poor player recruitment and coaches selecting poor tactics for what they have at their disposal, and that blame lies higher up the ladder.
He indeed needs time, I’d say at least to the end of next season to have enough chance to get his players in to play his style. Will he get it? I’m starting to doubt it.

For games 1-9 City were placed first in the form table and favorites for the title. For games 10-18 they were 18th and seemingly out of contention.. Things can change very quickly and drastically in football, and sometimes that just takes a few small things to happen at once.

It’s half way point so ask yourself could Liverpool have a 2nd half similar to Arsenal and Chelsea’s first half or even worse? I would say yes. And could arsenal or Chelsea have a similar 2nd half to Liverpool’s first half or even better? Possible but difficult especially when the European fixtures get tougher. But if those two things happen with one of the London clubs then Liverpool could lose the title. So no liverpool fan will say they’ve won it yet, even if we are in a great position.

When a manager first comes to a team they obviously want to play their way, but I do not think Utd have those players. I think most managers would be flexible enough to work with what they have and slowly introduce their style but it seems Amorim does not have that approach. I might be wrong, not seen much of Utd since his appointment so correct me if I am wrong.
One thing I saw was a pundit say he looks as if he is already struggling with his decision. He looks deflated already, and recently put out a rather negative comment about being sacked. Not good signs.

Yeah it’s been pretty good, but it’s not over until the maths say so.
But loving the twin disaster stories in Manchester!
Big shout out to Forest, what a season they are having.

Against a low block team was never going to be a game for Nunez, he needs space and there is none. I know Jota is recovering and Diaz maybe needs a rest but that was a poor selection by Slot.
