Mikus,
agree on your point re Leadership. We’ve added to the squad and addressed the key areas where it was needed for us to become more solid such as a new Keeper, a Centre Half and Defensive Midfielders. Sure, we could always do with extra cover as full-backs go, but we have Leaders in our team and Winners.
Plus I’ve noticed there’s synergy between our players that has made us click and flourish. Look for example how well Wijnaldum plays when he is supported by Fabinho.
Also, Keita and Mane work so well along with Robertson, Trent, Gomez and Van Dijk. The maturity is visible, but that’s not surprising because of these players already knowing each other and experience.

Our front 3 have grown in stature of late and very much back to their best. I’d be surprised if neither of those get on the scoresheet this Thursday. Ideally, a win would be nice. I’m sure a couple of wobbly results might be around the corner and City have to play the same teams as us as far as Spurs, Chelsea and United go, albeit Arsenal.
Nothing is sewn up at all even if City were to win this Thursday. And because of previous history and not winning it for 28 years, there’s been capitulation rather than getting over the finishing line.
Fortunately up to now, we’ve been blessed with luck and not having as many injuries. Maybe the Ox could return soon. I’m hoping Klopp will allow other players outside the first 11 to get some minutes like Sturridge, Origi and Lallana and in return is boosted with confidence that he has depth to see the season through with success.

I think if you put Liverpool to one side, there’s not a great deal in it between the other teams. As far as the history of the PL goes, I think only 1 team (this I think was Blackburn) won it losing 7 matches.
City this time last year were where we are now. One could argue they’re a victim of their own success because of the standards they themselves raised.
I believe we were the first team that inflicted them with defeat at Anfield almost a year ago. They could do exactly the same to us, but we’d still be 4 points ahead of them in poll position and would break off into the FA Cup.
I think the lads are better wired mentally, and I’m sure they’re levelled-headed too and in acceptance. As we’ve seen from set backs re EFL Cup and losing games in the Champions League, they not let a bad run go on for too long and back on the Sadal.

Adlab, not seen it mate; just picked up what’s been aired over the Radio.
The replays suggested the Ref got it right – will have to try a catch the highlights later.

I don’t think the game would hinge on one decision, but maybe that could have allowed Saints to level, and perhaps a different team talk at half-time.
Would say though that City are more or less out of sight and one more goal would make certain of that.

That could help us, but still a very long way to go and City have another goal in them at least. They’ll be in for a roasting at half-time by Pep no doubt if the scores remain like this.

5 changes made by Pep, but a strong line up in my view and City 1-nil up.
Looks to me as normal service.

He’s probably feeling something different, and frustration, perhaps some degree of pressure Mav.
It’s just his way of dealing with it in front of the Camera. I had a look at the stats of that game and it was more or less even-Steven, but Brighton by no means at the Amex are a pushover and not many teams have gone there and won so far this season.

Yeah, I do remember at one point both Trent and Gomez out for us (think that was on the back of Burnley away).
I’m still not 100% convinced with Lovren in spite of him being with us for 4 years (or so).
Milner had to pitch in at right back and he himself has been forced to the sidelines.
We were leaving holes against both Chelsea and Arsenal away from home and were fortunate to pick up draws. In fairness, kudos to Fabinho and Keita who’ve stepped up to the plate even though they didn’t initially hit the ground running. Keita himself has been injured, but both have needed time to settle in the Premier League.
I’d say in comparison to City, you guys already have a settled and a ready-made squad with depth, but I do sympathize to a degree with their current situation of injuries.

Not necessarily all in succession, but still City and United to play away, plus Chelsea and Spurs at home so these fixtures can’t be taken lightly and I’m sure points are going to be dropped.
It would be incredible if the number of our defeats were minimal, but we can’t afford too many draws as teams underneath us will just catch up and can’t see City or Spurs themselves dropping too many in succession.

Does make me question how on earth did Leicester lose at home to Cardiff – that is just baffling…
Maybe too many games in a short period of time…..

We still have Man City to play and the monkey isn’t off our backs just yet. If we were to be defeated, how would we respond? We have been in type of position historically and we have capitulated.
It’s not so much sounding negative – feel the opposite, but it’s keeping our feet on our ground because we are also involved in other competitions such as the FA Cup and The Champions League. It’s a very big ask for players like Van Dijk and Robertson to be delivering first class performances every time not to mention staying injury free.
I do hope though that OX could return soon for us if the rumours are true.
Some rotating will I’m sure take place and it’s up to those guys to be able to step up.
