Oh I don’t deny we have a lot of annoying fans Harry but you’re not seriously one of these fans who thinks their own team’s fans are superior to everyone else I hope. There’s a reason Liverpool fans were referred to as “the unbearables”. Are Liverpool fans any worse than any others, though? Of course not. Nor are Utd fans. There’s just a lot more of both Liverpool and Utd fans which makes it more noticeable than any others when the tides change.

27th February 2023 at 5:46 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204855Besides, Liverpool fans moaning about having had it tough in the 90s because you “didn’t win enough” sound incredibly spoilt. You’ve won every trophy available in the last decade. Do you think rival fans enjoyed any of that gloating? Spare a thought for the likes of Chucky who has (and will likely) never see his side lift a trophy! Or the many sides who struggle to get by. Nobody feels sorry for you after winning 2 and almost 4 trophies less than a year ago π

Every set of fans belittle achievements of their rivals while every set of fans enjoy the titles their side win, whatever they are. That’s just how football rivalries work.

26th February 2023 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204843Cheers all. My favourite domestic trophy win for a long time. When you’re winning trophies all the time, you really do take them for granted. If someone would have offered me a Carabao cup and top 4 before the season I’d have snapped their hand off and it’s looking very much like that’s the minimum we can now expect for this season. Ten Hag is the best signing we’ve made post Ferguson, by far.

26th February 2023 at 3:18 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204820Always liked the look of Zakaria when I’ve seen him in cameos for Chelsea. Never understand why he doesn’t play more. Has he been injured?
The #potterout brigade will be out in full force today but I just don’t see much point in acting now. He’s been brought in as a long term project. CL football is gone anyway so I see little to be gained from not giving him until the end of the season.

26th February 2023 at 2:10 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204803Why on earth was Kepa even trying to waste time after half an hour of a game they need to win? Seems to be a new trend, that. Time-wasting used to be something teams did towards the end of a game when they’re protecting a lead. Not surprised Kane left one in on him.

26th February 2023 at 8:28 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204788My worry with Newcastle is that they draw a lot of games and lose very few. They concede hardly any goals (albeit with another keeper mainly but the defence is a huge part of that). That all lends itself to them being able to keep it tight when the need arises. Utd are the in-form team, no doubt, but it wouldn’t at all surprise me if we struggle to break them down and it goes all the way to pens, which leaves it completely to chance. A single goal or pens to decide a tight game IMO. Hopefully in our favour.

25th February 2023 at 9:39 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 25 & Carabao Cup Final 2023 #204773That really was dire to watch. You know what though, I still fancy Liverpool for top 4.

I’ll be amazed if Karius doesn’t have the game of his life. Usually happens with the lesser known keepers against us in big games. Tell you what (Nine/Sean), I want to see this much optimism the next time you’re in finals π. As Alfie says, the amount of games we’re playing is going to catch up with us eventually. Newcastle will be fresh and hungry and anything can happen in a one off game. Over 2 legs, I’d have us to win it, for sure. But a tight defence and sneak a goal and it’s a cup for them. Can even go to pens easily.

It’s a great opportunity Nine, for sure. Seem to remember hearing the same when we faced Villareal in the EL final not long ago though ππ. We should have too much for Newcastle but a one-off final over 90mins can really go either way and no Utd fan will be counting this one as won just yet.

We’ll see Nil. Still very early days. Have you noticed though how Utd and Liverpool never seem to be good at the same time? You were crap when we were good and when you were good we were crap. Now, again, our mini revival seems to be coinciding with your supposed decline. It’s like a rule of the universe that we can’t be good at the same time.

Ten Hag turns things around again and what a second half performance. So glad Levers FC are out. Utd the better side over the 2 legs.

You’re all over the place now Chucky. We’ve gone from Utd being the first big club to potentially be involved in Sportswashing which you now know to be false to now talking about how “Utd have a lot of sponsors”. What’s your point exactly? Both our clubs have been linked with Qatari takeovers. Neither has been confirmed yet.

Chucky, let’s not pretend Sportswashing at the top of the game is unprecedented. Arsenal play at the Emirates stadium and carry a visit Rwanda band on their shirts, City, Newcastle, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Roma and many more all either state owned or happy to accept sponsorship from such states. Does that make it any more ok for the next Sportswashing project? Of course not, but to suggest it’s unprecedented at the top of the game is just not accurate.

It’s already feeling like we missed our chance in the first leg when we should have scored more. Barca very much looking like the runaway La Liga leaders so far.

It was clumsy, no doubt. But never a pen for me. Not seeing many neutrals agreeing with the decision at all

As the commentators said, would obviously never be overturned by VAR but should never have been given in the first place.

Very soft pen that. Old Trafford absolutely on fire tonight anyway. Brilliant atmosphere.
