Should Manchester United have been rewarded a penalty for this hard foul on Scott McTominay? #MUNHUD pic.twitter.com/IxS63VWK8c

It’s £850k a week for Sanchez Chucky. Get it right. Not quite sure how Utd didn’t get that pen in the first half when McTominay was clattered!

No that’s incorrect. The fee was €105mil Eur of which a big chunk €27mil was paid to the agent. From Mr Marotta himself :

Granted Jim, it currently looks very unlikely that Mourinho could manage a side to finish above City. Wouldn’t disagree there. However, when you consider that he did just that with his Madrid side while Pep had probably the greatest club side ever, with arguably the greatest player ever, it’d be a tad naive to suggest he couldn’t do it again, particularly considering the size of budget he’s likely going to be given to do so.
I’ve yet to hear anyone mention a viable alternative to Jose who has a proven track record in the top levels of football. Poch is at Spurs and has things good there. He’s not won a thing though, so it’d be a massive gamble to go for him, if we could even prise him away. Ancelotti is way too nice to manage Utd. You need a certain arrogance to manage Utd and doesn’t have that. Any other ideas? We can’t just continue to change managers every year in the hope we eventually get it right, especially after decent progress under Mourinho from the LVG era.

Not watching to be honest Jim but fair play to them if they’re playing well.
Does it annoy me that a few games every season we play to not lose, in a few big games away from home? Yes of course. Again, I’m happy to accept my manager’s flaws without hesitation. But, as long as he’s winning trophies like last season where he won 2, who am I to question his methods in such a few amount of games? If we’re not winning trophies it’s another matter. How spoilt would I need to be to not be happy winning trophies but insist on us going all guns blazing in every game while doing so?
Arsenal play much prettier football than Utd but find me a happy Arsenal fan and I’ll find you a liar. City played some great stuff last season but loads of City fans were disappointed with Pep as you didn’t win anything.

Jim, formal bid/informal bid… moot point. Fact is City wanted Mahrez which is the point

Jim, you’ll never find me playing the “your manager is worse than ours” card. I think it’s pretty universally accepted that Mourinho is in a league of his own for the petty stuff. I’m happy to admit that. But with that, I expect opposition fans to similarly accept the hypocrisy in their own manager’s actions. Pep or Mourinho complaining about spending is pretty funny whichever way people’s loyalties lie!

Proof that Mourinho is indeed human!
Mourinho's letter to this Man Utd fan serves as a reminder that he does have a truly nice side to him… ? pic.twitter.com/XZgjXzYjFg

Sanchez £600k a week?! It’s gone up yet another £100k!
Mourinho and Pep have both massively embarrassed themselves recently over spending. Mourinho for the reasons outlined above and Pep for moaning about the money that “believe me, City don’t have” before signing Laporte for £60mil and bidding £65mil for a backup for an injured player.
Pep said this in 2009
Remember when Pep Guardiola said this in 2009 cos he had Messi and could afford to be arrogant? Recent event has shown he is not only complicit, but a lead perpetrator! What a hypocrite. @biolakazeem @PoojaMedia pic.twitter.com/ZkqXUfl1i8

Yet here he is bidding £65mil for a backup because he had a player injured. Then we have Klopp who said he’d leave football if the Pogba type fees became the norm, 12 months before signing the world’s most expensive defender.
Now I completely get the dislike of Mourinho but let’s not pretend he’s the only hypocrite in the game fellas!

A possible alternative would have been Morata but I’d argue he’s been even less effective this season and so far looked lost at this level IMO

I don’t buy that flat track bully stuff Paxton. Over the last 5 or so years I think he’s only behind Kane in goals scored. He might not have scored as many of his goals against other top sides as others, but he’s still scored more goals than most in that time and everyone plays the same sides. Most of the teams Utd play are, with respect, smaller sides than us so if he’s going to mostly bang them in against the smaller sides, that’s still a lot of goals.
A lot of people say he’s not good enough for Utd but I’ve yet to hear anybody mention a player we should have got who would have been a better bet. Who could we have got realistically who has a better or as good goalscoring record. I’m all ears!

Bricklayersarms, Smalling is probably the first one I’d be looking to replace in that side. He’s steady and a decent defender but we should be looking for a better partner for Bailly really. I like the look of Tuanzebe who has just gone on loan to Villa so I’d like to see him given a chance. Mourinho has been quite good this season at playing the academy lads.
The last few times I’ve seen Rashford play centrally, I haven’t been as impressed. I much prefer him cutting in from the left and going past players than playing on the shoulder of the last defender. He could well mature into the central role though. Lukaku is definitely a confidence striker. His build up play has really improved the last few months even if his goals have dried up somewhat. His record in front of goal suggests hell be back scoring regularly again soon though.

My best XI for next season would be
De Gea
Valencia Bailly Smalling Shaw
Matic Herrera Pogba
Sanchez
KaneLukaku Martial (/Rashford)With replacements for Smalling, Herrera and Valencia on the shopping list.

Pogba was anonymous last night but oddly played out of position after impressing so much further forward this season. I know people will say “he should be able to impress in any position at that price” but it’s just not the case. Henry was an average winger but became world class when moved more centrally, for example.
The sooner Jose understands that he needs to build everything around Pogba in a more advanced position the better. He must still by far have the best assists per game ratio in the league so he’s doing something right.

Poor from Utd. Just didn’t turn up today. Doesn’t really change much as we were never going to catch City but disappointing nonetheless.
