There wasn’t a classification as Liverpool being challengers for the Title and maybe not even top 4, purely on the regress of last season and the rebuild job (in progress). We’ve exceeded expectations sooner. If we’re not at City’s level, but still matching them for effort and application as well as currently occupying 1st position after 23 matches.
We must have been doing something right.

5th February 2024 at 8:18 pm #212502Way on top. Just like the two games last season and we managed to lose both.
Four excellent saves by their keeper so far.
Can’t get over how the pattern is the same.
Hope the result is different!!_____________________________

5th February 2024 at 8:27 pm #212504Same again. One attack down the middle one goal. You can’t be offside from a goal kick.
Good chance for Haaland…saved again.
Almost every goal we have let in this season has been a breakaway down the middle.
We haven’t got wise to it.
Their keeper is having an incredible game_____________________________

5th February 2024 at 8:43 pm #212507To be fair to Brentford they are playing exactly the right way against us and getting the bit of luck you need. We aren’t doing much wrong.
Any other team we’d be two or three up._____________________________

5th February 2024 at 8:53 pm #212509That’s the most lethal of Man City since the 2019 days. It’s a real dagger for Brentford especially when Flekken has been on another level tonight.
1-1. If City for example make a change and bring on Grealish, I can see tired legs and lapse in concentration and a Penalty given away.
The Bees really gave it their all in that half.

5th February 2024 at 9:27 pm #212510Although we are winning Brentford showing the way to play against us. Set pieces into the box and route one type balls. It works and we don’t defend well against it.
Can’t see this remaining 1-2.
I would bring on Doku.._____________________________

5th February 2024 at 10:03 pm #212514It looks like ‘normal service’ will resume from Saturday lunchtime; a 6-0 quite easily against Everton. Points, Goal Difference. Ah well. I was far too optimistic.
Brentford really put up a fight, hats off and Thomas Frank is not a bad shout to be Klopp’s successor.

6th February 2024 at 1:13 am #212515Van Dijk had a poor game and he has made a mistake here or there this season but generally, he’s been absolutely brilliant.
I have no idea how people are coming to the conclusion that he’s been anything but brilliant this season.
Nobody is using his big injury as an excuse now. that was last season and it wasn’t an e excuse, it was something that people could see was physically a problem for him.Liverpool still have the best defence in the PL and the 3 players most responsible for that in order are Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate. Van Dijk is also one of the most important players on the pitch when it comes to general distribution.
Van Dijk had a bad day here and he also had a bad day there I think 2 games ago. He’s not perfect and ya, I would have complaints about his recent lapses but are we going to suggest that the best don’t have bad days
Who is so much better than him that it’s offensive to suggest that Van Dijk is as good as?
Have they conceded fewer goals? Van Dijk as probably scored as many goals as some of their forwards._____________________________

6th February 2024 at 11:19 am #212517Real Shame there’s a nasty streak about Neal Maupay. It’s not that he lacks football ability but you can sense possibly the reasons why he’s moved through a few clubs.
He belongs in the school play ground. Walker might not be a nice guy off the pitch be he is a professional on it and focused make no mistake.
The Refs/Officials shouldn’t have to deal with this nonsense and play ground wind ups. It’s an unnecessary headache for the Brentford Manager too.
He really put together a good 11 on the pitch last night with strength and technical ability. They’ll be a real handful for us.
