Difficult not to agree with the Ed on both the FIFA team and the Salah award over Bale and indeed Brian who is a very wise Owl and always a pleasure to read.

But it’s a beauty contest and people vote 1, 2 and 3. and the voting is weighted to take account of that. Whether we agree or disagree with the eleven selected it’s still a very strong eleven.

I know he’s not playing well ATM but for this list to not have Salah after last season, is a joke. Salah was voted the 3rd best player in the world and didn’t make it here… I smell Politics/Corporate involvement.

The thing is, if it weren’t a WC season, Salah would probably have won player of the year. Spo, I guess I don’t take these things so seriously.

It’s a beauty contest Mak and beauty is in the eye of the beholder all been and gone now personally I think Salah should have been better recognised for last season.

Seasons like that might not happen for him again to that level.
