I’m slightly puzzled from a Team Selection POV; So what actually happens?

Does Southgate pick players that are not in his chosen squad to prove him wrong?

Or does he go with those he’s chosen to know get in some match practice?

Is it a case of a Pick-n-Mix?

Yeah, I’m looking puzzled at the players playing in that game. Why on earth would you bother playing players you cut only 24 hours earlier from the squad???? Surely the focus would be to get the group of players you want to perform smoothly as a team ready for a major tournament.
It makes absolutely no sense to me

I cant understand playing players not in the squad unless it was an emergency substitution.

To be fair to Southgate Adlab he’s still missing 11 players and probably one of two others weren’t ready to start. If TTA doesn’t make it one of those players who started last night will likely come in in his place.

We were randomly at work talking about this on the day of the Europa final on certain players being selected with one of the reasons being to versatility, or in TAA’s case, the modern full-back.

He could be out, so who would we use as cover?

I don’t think it will be a like for like replacement Nil,

Southgate doesn’t really need another right back in the squad if TTA, isn’t going to be fit I think Southgate will probably go for Lingard be good to see TAA make it because he’s broader than just a right back but it sounds unlikely.

Worryingly when are Henderson and Maguire going to be fit I might have misheard this because it seems so crazy but I thought I heard Henderson hasn’t played since early February. I hope we are not going to repeat previous mistakes re injured players.

I reckon Grealish may have played himself into the starting eleven. Henderson out of order with the pen he should have let Calvert Lewin take it awful pen too fortunately it didn’t matter today but it might going forwards. Southgate suggested he won’t be doing that again.😊

Don’t see any point in playing Henderson, Grealish was always going to be a starter, you can see his class. Some of Southgate selections make no sense.

I still reckon Ward-Prowse should be getting a ticket! It seems the midfield he has picked is either players who are attacking mids or defensive mids. WP offers both in my opinion, a true no.8. I would be giving TAA’s spot to him.
