12 month bans for Smith and Warner and a 9 month ban for Bancroft. However I find it difficult to believe only the three of them knew what was happening and that Lehman had no knowledge of it.

Warner is rightly banned from leadership positions for life but the additional 12 month ban from leadership positions for Smith and Bancroft seems far too light to me.

Strange one – the crying – as it looks quite fake in the pictures, but I can imagine just how much it must hit you to see everything you have worked so hard to achieve come crashing down around you. His parents are devastated and that must get to him too – too let them down so badly must be upsetting.

I think they need to independently investigate the investigation as it seems to be a bit of a whitewash. Just find the bare minimum people you can implicate despite obviously having more people involved. Just how hard they tried to get to the bottom of it is questionable.

Precisely Alfie. I think even I could tell if a ball had been sand papered and i havent played cricket for over 25years and am about as far from a world class pace bowler as you can get. And we are supposed to believe that none of their bowling attack knew of this! Question marks have to be raised over the diligence of the match officials as well as arnt they are supposed to check the ball inbetween overs.

All a bit OTT imo Smith will be back playing for Australia in a year and he’s not just been sentenced to death.

Shape up take your punishment put something back into grass roots Aussie Cricket which is a requirement of the punishment and come back a better and much wiser player and person.

Articles are now appearing saying the sentencing was to strong but I’m not suprised given what we’ve seen today.

Trying dealing with a real world issues like a serious illness to yourself or your children, or struggling to pay your bills and see whether you still want to start crying about a bit of mild cheating in a game.

I wonder if this reflects on how we’re living in today’s modern society.

I ‘buy into’ the fact that these guys are sorry for their actions and okay, their manner of apology in public reflects on them being sincere, but all this staging, tears, and everything else, you’d think they’re about to be doing a life sentence for murder.

What we simply can’t get away from in our everyday world is the involvement of digital media and the world wide web. Unlike a newspaper that’s used to wrap Fish n Chips in the evening, that recording is out there whether you like it or not and more than ever, you have to be mindful of your actions.

It takes time to redeem and rebuild a reputation of honesty and trust.

Finally a good day for English Test Cricket it’s been a while.

At close of play on the 3rd day England lead NZ by 231 runs with 7 wickets remaining.

Assuming good weather over the next two days we might have a chance of winning this one and squaring the Series after the debacle of the First Test.
