I believe this Coutinho situation has turned so ugly because Barca had Neymar bought from them leaving them short of a player, short in time to find a replacement but rich in cash.
They reportedly told Coutinho that the move happens now or never in order to place massive pressure on him to leave this summer.
This doesn’t excuse Coutinho behaviour, this is just to give some context of how this situation has developed.
Unfortunately we are now left in the situation where we may be left without an important player, very little time to find a replacement but loads of cash swilling about.
God only knows if the owners will stand firm but if they do Coutinho must remember it’s a World Cup year and he’ll want to perform in order to ensure he’s picked and is in good form going into the finals.
