      Steveo,

I don’t disagree with much of what you say, except that when Wenger left Arsenal they were in a good position both squad and financially. much of the injuries that Arsenal as a club has suffered has been self-inflicted. and I would point an accusing finger to Arteta because he is the biggest culprit. although both Unai Emery and Wenger may take some responsibility. the only regret that Wenger could have was that he didn’t tie Sanchez who was Arsenal’s equivalent to what Hazard was to Chelsea to a long term contract. and since then Arsenal has failed to replace him. At least Chelsea has indirectly replaced Hazard.

Now Arsenal has a tough decision to make, even if they sack Arteta now, no big-name manager would risk their reputation in the middle of a season, so they would have to stick with Arteta, but how much more injuries can he inflict on the club until now and the end of the season? even the next manager needs a huge investment and time. ok, Arsenal would guarantee time and patience, but can they guarantee a huge investment?

        Steveo,

I think where Wenger left Arsenal and where they are now is too different. it’s unfair to accuse an accusation finger at Wenger when he built everything that is at Arsenal. The mess that is at Arsenal now is purely down to the Arsenal board not being proactive. as for the overpaid players you have mentioned, the only players who are Wenger era signing are Xhaka, Aubamenyang, Bellarin, Holding, and Lacazette. and of those players, all are Key pillars of Arsenal today, the rest are signed by his successors. he left Arsenal at 5th place, only missed the top four two out of 22 years he was in charge. but since he has left, Arsenal finished fifth place and eighth places twice.

I really like the movement of Werner, but at Chelsea, we don’t have someone who is in the mould of Mata or Fabregas who can find him. but Lukaku could be a game-changer for him as he will relieve a lot of pressure from him, but where does that leave for Pulisic and Ziyech? both of them are goal-scoring attacking midfielders and weed our midfielders to score more to win the league. every team that wins the league goal-scoring midfielders. I would definitely abandon the Kunde chase and instead target a creative midfielder. our defence is now sorted with Chalobah in place. so why would we spend big money on a player who is smaller and can only play at CB when Chalobah can also play at CDM. Tuchel has tough decisions to make.

I assume he likes Mount and he will play, Kante will also play, and it’s obvious Jorginho is our anchorman now. between Azpi and James, I can see James reclaiming his spot, and likewise, Chilwell has a fight in his hands with the form that Alonso is in. also Silva has a fight in his hands, given the performance of Christensen at the Euros and on Saturday. right now, the only persons whose positions are secure are Lukaku and Mendy. the rest are up for grabs.

At this rate, we will be losing posters rather than attract some. maybe some posters are becoming a problem to the site while pointing accusing fingers at other posters. I would say, we best discuss football matters henceforth and leave other matters to the non-football forum. there are many times when I want to join the discussion but I feel some posters make it difficult because of their confrontational attitude. all of us support clubs, and every one of us will go to extra mile to defend our colours, but that should not mean we should disrespect each other.

As for the first week of the premier league, Well done to Spurs and United. Spurs in particular have had a decent result. and because everyone isn’t giving them a chance, they could easily reclaim their top-four place, watch out for this space! As for United? they are the early pace setters, I would be surprised if they don’t win the league this season. I can’t see City winning it this season. if not United, I think Liverpool will regroup. Chelsea although it’s a work in progress, I think will also give a run for their money whoever wins it.

I’m worried about the future of Arsenal. they seem to have gone backwards since Arteta has taken over. it would have been wise to sack him this summer and install an experienced manager. after all, they said Wenger was the problem. now many Arsenal fans would take Wenger in a heartbeat I assume. if Arsenal continue were it’s heading, in 2-3 years Everton and Leicester will overtake them.

There are a few issues in this Euro 2020. Gareth Southgate has been the best manager and the personality in this Euros. his press conferences has been enjoyable, he was calm and was insightful everytime he has gone infront of the camera. personally i enjoyed his calmness and he was so humble unlike the Germany and France coaches. he should win the best coach.

Also, if you are a United fan, you should be celebrating. of those United players who went to the Euros, only Rashford and De Gea had a tournament to forget. others inlcuding Pogba has a very good tournament. i was pleased for Maguaire who has been slaughtered by opposition fans including myself. but credit to where it’s due, he marshelled the England defence very well. Luke Shaw was also outstanding. City fans should also celebrate, as their player has been excellent. everywhere they played.

Chelsea had mixed fortunes, whilst Jorginho and Mount has been good Werner, Kante, and Chilweell had a tournament to forget. Liverpool players were also average in this tournament.

What we have learnt from these Euros is that France, Crotia, Germany and Portugal and even Spain have had a disasterous Euros. While England, Italy and Belgium are having an inspired Euro 2020 tournament. from players side, Rahem Sterling is the standout performer in this touranment, Jorginho for Italy is also doing excellent, Pogba for France was also excellent, some notable mentions are Lukaku, Christensen, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz. on the other hand players whom alot were expected from them floppped in this Euros. they include: N’golo Kante, Mason Mount, Harry Kane, Griezman, Mpabe.

As a non European football fan, and Chelsea supporter, i’m leaning towards Germany because of the Chelsea connections. 3 Chelsea lads are in Germany, whereas England has zero on the starting line up and only two on the bench. therefore i follow the Chelsea lads since i’m a neutral. come on Germany #forca Deutschland. England 1-2 Germany. that is my predicted scoreline.

So City want Reece James? at this rate the papers will link every player to City just to generate headlines. but seriously assuming this is true, then Chelsea would be stupid to just listen let alone sell him to one of our direct rivals.

Well, i have to say it’s disgraceful the way the media is attacking Kai Havertz in this Euros, despite him scoring two goals in three games. i think, the media is doing its best to brand him lazy and not good enough for Germany even though he is their top scorer for this Euros.

Billy Gilmour has won man of the match tonight in his first start for Scotland against that much-hyped England midfield. And he is only 19 years old. I’m kicking myself not to understand why he can’t start for Chelsea week in week out. But that is another story.

Southgate should have played 3-5-2 put pressure on Scotland. A second striker plus two attacking Wingbacks would have given the English midfield some breathing space to create chances. And that is why Chilwell would have been a candidate to start, his crosses and attacking experience would have been invaluable, and he would have contributed as he has done for Chelsea countless times. For God’s sake, the boy is a European Champion! Southgate has to show some respect for him. Unless he is testing his character. But England needs him more than Shaw and Tripier.

Benching Marcus Rashford is another mistake that Southgate is making. He is the best attacking player that England has, his pace and experience are vital to the team. It seems that the Mount is played on an empty tank, Southgate should have rested him tonight. The boy was playing a 60 + game for Chelsea alone, and it’s a total he may have played 70 games this season, the highest in the squad. So his below-par performance is understandable. And Finally, can I ask Southgate why Sancho isn’t getting any minutes when England needs a goal?

I think England are missing someone who can take on defenses. Bring Grealish on and take off Sterling pease. Foden seems to be doing fantastic. Bring Shaw on and met the team has balanced attacking. Right now the England attack is coming from the right side only.

Chelsea is always victim of poor refeering. Someone from somewhere wants to to tip the balamce of top four in favour of other team. But we will see how it goes.

Man Utd and City are guaranteed to finish in the top four. Unless there is a catastrophic collapse in form, Leicester is also in a good position. after that it’s a toss between Chelsea and Liverpool for the fourth spot. at the moment Chelsea has the advantage, but in Footall evertything is possible.

I think Mourinho is a victim of his own success. wherever he goes there is a huge expectation that he could win the league for that team. even though that team needs building a sqaud capable of challenging the league. i would also, Mourinho the individual doens’t have a good reputation outside football. so if you combine those two, you will get on one hand, gorups who are frustrated that he didn’t win the league for their team, and a group that doesn’t like him and who will ignore everything he has done in football, just because they don’t like Mourinho the person.
