I can¨t see how the football is going to be good… it’s too hot, would think every manager will be telling the players not to go nuts, keep it all nice and tight, not make any mistakes… and the “lesser” teams will all be playing for peno’s anyway…
I’ll predict now, this World Cup will set records for least amount of goals scored and most amount of peno shoot-outs… (and probaly most 0-0’s too!)

Last World Cup, the group ganes were very good then it got stale in the last 16 with negative tactics etc

I have a feeling the non-football aspects of this World Cup will be far more entertaining the actual football so I’d rather talk about that to be honest, and I have a feeling I am not the only one.
Unless anyone has something riveting to discuss about that block-buster of an opening game, Qatar vs Ecuador. I know why they changed it, winners are not automatically qualified anymore but it was far more interesting before as guaranteed at least one of the big nations.
I hope this World Cup is entertaining but I cannot see it happening. Not just because where it is and when, but the tournaments have become more and more boring recently. There doesn’t seem to be the big personality players anymore, the excitement, the drama. I cannot even remember who the semi-finalists where last time bar France!

Well we can’t use the excuse of players being tired after a long season this time, and the stadia will apparently be cooled to around 21C. Maybe, with the lack of preparation, it will be a scrappy start but will get better as the tournament progresses?

Always have had a soft spot for Argentina and will always hold affection for them; Diego Maradona arguably the main influence. Hope Messi can turn it on.

Think this stemmed possibly from Mexico 86. Don’t have a vivid memory but of course, my fave World Cup has to be Italy 1990 after Mexico 1986. Have fond memories of USA 1994. Cherished Times.
The more Older Generation of Fans perhaps perceive this all as effectively Parallel Universe. Destroyed Soul Really to me and I feel sorry for the younger fans now going through it in nature.
We Were Super Lucky to have lived what we lived. This Quatar lark is a Paradox. It’s all down to the Showcase of Professional, Prestige and quite simply Expressing themselves on the day when they cross that White Line.

USA 94 was a great tournament nil mate. Italia 90 was great as an Irish supporter but a terrible tournament. Gazza became a huge star. Very good England team.
86 was my first real memory. Loved the Brazil team and maradona. Gary linker aswell.6 goals.

Sean, there was a guy in I think his name was Oleg Solenko. His played for Russia. For some weird thought of this subject, he just sprung to my mind. What Beautiful Sunshine the States brought mate. Good coverage both BBC and ITV.
Yes, I did like Ireland in that tournament and Andy Townsend back then in particular.
I mentioned Solenko because he resembles in my mind to Dragan Stojković of Yugoslavia, back in 1990.
Remember Florin Răducioiu of Romania and Gheorghe Hagi? Nigeria in 94 were a surprise package. Always liked Claudio Caniggia and Gabriel Batistuta for Argentina.
I don’t have that much of a memory of 86; little bit of Bryan Robson, Gary Lineker and John Barnes.
Loved Italy 90, just a Wonderful year and a Fantastic Summer leading up to the Tournament 🙂 🙂
