Nil, 97 points and no title would be tough to take mate but the answer lies in the 7 draws particularly the draw at OT against what then was a very under strength United. I said at the time that City would have won that game and it might cost Liverpool and it just might as you yourself have already alluded to.

But it’s not over yet and a win tonight will put a bit of pressure on City and Burnley are a horrible team and obstinate team so you just never know.

In 2012 the title turned in the last few seconds so there’s still plenty of time.?

“Spurs though in recent years have come close and purely from a Football Supporter point of view, I’d be more than confident with an injection of 200m spent on players, you’d be challenging Man City, easily. ”

            easily? Not even close.

You’re talking about incredibly well spent money to get close to City, so the “easily” part of that is flushed down the toilet. City are on course for the 2nd highest points tally ever, right after setting the actual record the season before, it’s absolutely incredible that we’ve run them this close and we’ve got an absolute legend negotiating our deals etc..

If Spurs got an injection of £200m they might challenge for the title but I still feel that City will have to drop more points for someone else to win the title. I mean, are we going to go through next season only losing 1? NOPE. Maybe we can get less draws but you’re talking about 7.. that’s no shamefully high amount, it’s just that our competition are out of this world.

I don’t agree Mak as good as City are Spurs have been more consistent than Liverpool in the previous few seasons and went close to winning the title too.

If Spurs retained all of their key players and could spend £200m they would push City imo just as Liverpool have done after spending £250m.

Whether Spurs would be in a position to spend £200m with the cost of their new Stadium and retain the Eriksens of this world is open to conjecture though.

I’m not sure what previous seasons have got to do with it, especially in terms of Liverpools past seasons. It’s about the level that this City team are at. We’re talking about what Spurs could do to compete with City. fergie’s Utd couldn’t compete with them.

I’m not saying Liverpool will be able to follow this season up again but we’re 1 point away from Fergie’s highest ever tally in the PL, at 89 points. To get to this situation you’ve got to have pretty much everything going right, not just a lump sum thrown at it. I mean, Man Utd as you said yourself had a team worth £400m or so out the other day against City and they did nothing with it.

Not to say that Spurs are like Utd, they have a quality manager and a brilliant team but they are 18 points behind for a reason and ya money gives them the potential to close that gap, or even surpass it but there’s no “easily” about it, in fact it gets progressively harder and less efficient to further increase the output of an already well working machine.

They could. My point was that it is no easy thing, as stated otherwise.

Mak, of course anyone chasing this City team currently will be pushing water uphill but I don’t think it’s a given that that will never change Liverpool were totally dominant in the 70’s and 80’s but haven’t won a League title now in nearly 30 years United who were completely dominant in the PL but haven’t challenged for a League title since 2013 and currently don’t look like they will for a while but of all the Club’s most capable of challenging City United are still the most likely imo once the get a clear direction because they have the most bona fide resources.

Nothing lasts for ever Chelsea were PL Champions the season before last but are struggling to achieve a CL place currently.

Liverpool could still beat City to the title because they invested £250m in players in key positions and have a smart Manager and with a smart Manager like Pochettino in place at Spurs if Spurs invested similarly I think they would be a real contender. Just my opinion mate. Cheers 999

Nine, @ 6:00, you’ve explained that all for me mate on the back of what Mak picked up from my post. And to add, I was alluding to the pattern of this season (League Progression).

Putting aside Liverpool, Spurs look more the likely to push Man City, if a serious cash injected could be afforded and allowed.

                      Cheers Mate.
