I really rate Philips. His engine is amazing! He is exactly what Utd needed in their midfield intead of all this talk of Rice. I like Rice, he’s easily more technically gifted than Philips but nowhere near the same energy.

Not sure about Philips or Jesus. We’re will Philips play? He’s not going to play instead of Rodri who is a beast of a player.

Jesus is a strange one. Always seems to score againest us. Not sure he be a success at Arsenal. Were are Arsenal getting all this money. They spend millions every summer and are still so poor. Do they even need raphfina as saka best position is there?

Areteta really gets away with it. They need to start well.

Sean, I am not sure if Phillips will be automatic choice but I suspect with Haaland And Alivrez arriving now Phillips there will be change of tactic but not style. Jesus, a very much underrated player. You are right about Rodri, he will get even better next season and hope Diaz will be fully recovered for the start of the season. I also think this will be Walkers last season maybe even January window.Served us well but time to move on, Cancello will then switch over to RB

This article from the MEN seems to point to the emphasis being on Ten Hag to lead the recruitment with the director of football following his lead. Still looks a bit of a mess if true.

“But United’s targets this summer all have one thing in common: Ten Hag. Murtough is happy to try and progress those deals but by doing so he is essentially hitching himself to the wagon of the new manager. If it goes wrong his head will be on the line as well, which is not usually how it works.

The focus is clearly on players Ten Hag is familiar with this summer and perhaps that speaks to loss of knowledge within United’s recruitment department. They are turning their attention to data, but experienced scouts such as Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout have departed.

These are clearly defenders Ten Hag knows well, but it does feel like he’s leading the recruitment this summer, with Murtough simply tasked with delivering players.”

Sean..I would agree that Walker is a very good player but at his age now and the style he plays to it is very demanding and I am not sure he will last a season for City I hope I am wrong but that is the way I see it hence our interest in full backs at the moment

Who knows Adlab. There’s bound to be some disruption with both a new manager and a completely new team in charge of transfers with Ed Woodward and Matt Judge (chief negotiator) both leaving as well as a lot of scouts. We’re in the middle of a huge overhaul but the lack of urgency is very concerning I have to say.

The fact we don’t know what’s going on is not necessarily a problem. In recent years, we’ve been too prone to leaks so it’s rarely been a surprise when we signed anyone. That we seem to have plugged those leaks (as in, we don’t really know who we’re after) is probably a good thing but, as I say, it’s worrying that nothing has happened yet.

Ed, it’s no coincidence that Clubs like United and Chelsea who have gone through significant changes in recent months are slow out of the blocks in the Summer transfer market it’s frustrating but providing both Clubs fill the gaps they are looking to fill by September 1st and I think they will little harm will be done.
