@MUFC we’ve been shopping at primark whilst city, liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea, and now Tottenham have been going to harrods. I don’t know what sort of strategy that is but I think champions league, something Wenger was quite rightly ridiculed for aiming at, is certainly going to be beyond us next season.
the glazers have been here for 21 years and it appears they keep finding a new bottom. if anyone sees any chink of light at the end of this shit-filled tunnel, except for happy of course, I’m all ears._____________________________

23rd July 2026 at 12:34 pm #251117Aladji Bamba, defensive midfielder, 20 years of age from Monaco. So Newcastle seem to have found one, let’s see how he progresses.

24th July 2026 at 7:04 pm #251195What a surprise, Guardiola turned down the Italy job, I wonder why? Could it be because they’re shite and he’s got fuck all chance of winning anything with them?

25th July 2026 at 11:11 am #251230Bob – In fairness, the big money signings rarely provide value for money do they? You only have to go back to last season to see how disastrous Isak and Wirtz were for Liverpool to see what a bad policy it is. Don’t get me wrong i think ÂŁ85m for that Fernands kid will work out to a good deal in the end. But Tonali for ÂŁ100m and Anderson for ÂŁ116? They’re not going to become ÂŁ200m players are they? Even when City bought Grealish for no reason for ÂŁ100m it didn’t really work out in the end.
I hope its a strategy that works and obviously we’ll have to be back in for a top midfielder in a couple of years to replace Tielemans – but if doing the midfield slightly cheaper allows us to sign players in other positions then i think it’s a decent plan for this summer._____________________________

25th July 2026 at 11:29 am #251233It’s not the price, it’s whether they’re the right players. I wanted two monsters in front of the back four and behind Bruno, but I’m afraid none of Tielemans, Mainoo and Santos are those monsters. I really don’t think Wilcox and co had the faintest idea what we needed and have ended up buying random players who happened to be relatively cheap and available. By the way, from what I’ve seen, the second fastest player in the PL hasn’t worked out very well either and his mate over on the other wing still needs to convince me.

25th July 2026 at 12:26 pm #251238@jm as i stated on the other thread; i think the strategy surrounding midfielders signed has alot to do with Carrick stating he wants to play possession based football this season and trying to replicate the fluidity of the PSG midfield. But personally with the way we have always played a physically strong and technically good paired midfield partnership under Bruno would have easily sorted things.

25th July 2026 at 2:23 pm #251248As far as I know Man United plays better with flying counterattacks. It also suits a bad defence like we are having now not to be stretched out in a possession play risking to be counterattacked by opponents. I know Carrick is a fan of possession play but you got to have quick centerbacks. It also takes out strikers like Sesko completely out of the game playing around opponents box and it’s boring as fuck to watch.

25th July 2026 at 2:37 pm #251250Agree to a point Zico, but we only play on the break because we’re shite mate. Most top teams dominate possession and it doesn’t have to be boring, PSG prove that. But don’t worry, we won’t be playing possession football with what we’ve bought.

25th July 2026 at 3:47 pm #251256Happy, I always thought going big for players like Rice was more about getting to the next level than resale value. If it does not work out you would be prepared to take a small hit.

25th July 2026 at 3:49 pm #251259Why can’t we be able to play both possession and counter attacking. Does it have to be one or the other.

25th July 2026 at 4:26 pm #251271No mate, but at the moment we certainly can’t keep the ball, and in terms of counter attacking, I wouldn’t say we had electric pace, apart from the second quickest player in the PL that is.

25th July 2026 at 4:27 pm #251272Depends on the manager Jumper. Games goes in cycles so guess you can say you can play both ways but some managers parks the bus and some likes the possession play.

26th July 2026 at 8:21 am #251353Yeah, better Jumpers, but you need ten outfield players who can keep the ball and most of ours are technically inept mate.

26th July 2026 at 8:26 am #251354Btw, Vini Jnr to Arsenal just won’t happen. Was listening to Terry Gibson saying he wants over €500k a week after tax. Thats some greedy cunt. There’s no way Arsenal or anyone else will do that. Then there’s the fee, north of 100 million.
