@jm what are you on about mate🤣🤣.. A Newcastle team with new players and a new coach… like i said he was signed 48hours prior to their match against Spurs and he did what every DM is supposed to do which is protect the back4, keep the ball moving and he did give more than 1diagonal pass of which one did lead to the goal…. Also like i said i did watch him at Porto.

30th August 2026 at 2:42 pm #255063Yeah, Chelsea have done nothing really, gifted all three goals. Still a bit of life in this because Brighton have actually been the better side.
Btw, we should have signed Joao Pedro, er, when he was at fucking Watford.-

30th August 2026 at 4:44 pm #255085Chelsea had an acerage of 53% ball possession in the two seasons, but i don’t remember what benefits that has brought to Chelsea. This season, our ball possession is low, but our scoring is high, and we are yet to score from a set piece or a penalty. Bit people are already crying that Chelsea had a low ball possession? I’m very happy with 10% possession but scoring goals and winning games, instead of dominating games and losing for 1-0. If youadd the number of chances we have missed, we could have been out of sight. I can see rival fans are jealous. Cole Palmer is back, Jao Pedro is scoring, Morgan Rodgers is doing the business. I can’t complain.
Arsenal will surely defend their title with ease, our target now is to return the the champions league football first, then build from there.

30th August 2026 at 5:30 pm #255124Oh you look very good going forward mate and I’d give my eye teeth for Rogers, Pedro and Palmer, but come on, you were gifted those first three goals. Lucky lucky boys today.
As for Alonso, not sure. Why the fuck did he start with James and Caicedo on the bench. A very relieved man at the end.-

31st August 2026 at 5:51 am #255209Jm, of the first three goals I would say that the first was a defending error which was pounced on. The Pedro Neto goal was a good bit of skill from Rogers to beat his man and put in a dangerous cross… Neto timed his run perfectly and got ahead of the defender, hardly a gift. And the Pedro goal was an excellent counter attack… think you’re being a tad harsh. 3 of our 4 goals were essentially good goals.
One of their goals was a deflected own goal, and their first resulted from a good save where the ball ricocheted to their winger who hit a volley that he probably couldn’t repeat in a month of Sundays.
The defence does look a bit frail, and lacked protection from the midfield. We need to get the Enzo situation settled because we missed him, or a player of his profile, yesterday for sure.
As for this Sunday, I fully expect Arsenal to be too much for us.

31st August 2026 at 7:57 am #255214Disagree Ed, if Brighton had had a defender on instead of that oaf Kadioglu, I doubt they’d have conceded either of the second and third goals mate. And 25% possession against Brighton at home. Come on mate, the garden is not completely rosy by any means.

31st August 2026 at 8:14 am #255215Chelsea have the feel of new manager bounce about them – everyone playing at a high level trying to impress the new manager (and Xabi Alfonso is very well respected in world football) – not sure whether it will last until the first loss or the whole first season, but can see them returning to form by next season (like they always do). Just something about them that doesn’t have the feel of “new dynasty” like City, Liverpool and now Arsenal had.
With that said, at least they get the odd PL or CL trophy out of it, we’re so far back that we can’t get any better than a 2nd place finish in the league (and miles behind to not even consider a title challenge)

31st August 2026 at 9:21 am #255223Did you watch them yesterday mate? They were completely outplayed for large chunks of the game, by a team that were missing several of their best players. That Chelsea trio of Rogers, Palmer and Pedro is awesome but…

31st August 2026 at 9:36 am #255225Jm, I don’t think I implied that things are rosy in my post…
Targeting Kadioglu to me seemed like a good idea, no luck about that.
We’re missing direction in central midfield, largely because of injuries and the Enzo saga, which is what contributed to the lack of possession. Even with the lack of possession, Brighton didn’t look overly threatening and we had more shots than them.
But the central midfield is an issue, that situation needs to get bedded down asap so they can work to give the defence more protection, or we should go with less attack-minded wing-backs.
Certainly not rosy, and we won’t get things in midfield sorted for a while – fully expecting Chelsea to get soundly beaten by Arsenal this week.

31st August 2026 at 11:07 am #255233I don’t like three at the back Ed, not sure it’ll work for you mate. Agree with you about your central midfield, average without Enzo. You need Wharton or Scott, but then so do we.

31st August 2026 at 1:11 pm #255250We’re starting to see the blueprint for success at City. It’s fuck all to do with Guardiola and all about having the best players. The last and most recent wave have once again been deemed not good enough, the club having not won the title for two seasons. So out go Reijnders, Marmoush, Savinho and others and in come a host of top, extremely expensive replacements. And if they don’t work, they’ll ship them out and start again, they’ve been doing it ever since the Saudis took over. Guardiola my arse, it’s all about having the best players.
