The Athletic now running with the story that Utd will be sticking to their original plan of appointing an interim due to the difficulties of getting Poch out of PSG mid-season.
I think that’s wise. Get someone in now who can take us to the end of the season then see what happens with Poch/PSG and Ten Hag. Although if Carrick somehow performs a miracle at Stamford Bridge this weekend, he may well be the person to take us to the end of the season. I wouldn’t be against that on the condition that there’s no chance it can become anything permanent.

Yeah supposedly interviewed him, Lucien Favre, Rangnick and a couple others who I can’t remember. Let’s face it, they’re all a step up from Ole in terms of coaching ability. Can’t be much worse. Very difficult to get a good interim manager in and even harder to get the right permanent manager mid season.

Guys, wanting to met Fergie is a little bit different to an overwhelming desire to manage YooUtd… nothing wrong with being a young manager wanting to met a “legend” in the managerial game? Putting 2 and 2 together to make 42 is simply an overconfident statement on your part… 🙂

Banjo, utd were planning on interim until earlier this week when somehow they got the idea that poch would leave psg mid season if possible to join them. Utd did not imagine that, it was because intermediaries informed utd of that on behalf of poch, that is what I have heard multiple reports claim and the only thing that makes sense of why these rumours had picked up steam all of a sudden.
You genuinely think poch has no interest in utd? Why didn’t he shut the rumours down by explicitly stating that?

Chucky, there’s a slight difference between:
– Wanting to go for a beer with Ian Wright
and
– It being a dream come true to meet Ian Wright. Someone you hold up as an inspiration, your reference, and the best player in the history of football.
The former being you think they’re decent. The second idolising someone, and exactly what Poch said about Ferguson.
I’m in no way suggesting this backs up the claims Poch dreams of managing Utd (you’re well within your rights to refute that respected journalist’s claims) but to answer your point about the fact that Poch has no connection whatsoever to Utd, which is evidently a load of rubbish based on his admiration for Ferguson.

Banjo, I dont think many, if any, capable coaches will be happy to interim at utd with no chance of permanent appointment either. Its poch now or carrick until end of season then it opens up to poch and others in the summer imo. Maybe valverde happy for temp role but I don’t know.

Forget the French journalist comment for now. That is nothing to do with this Poch quote about Ferguson. You thinking he came up with that based on a 5 year old quote is bizarre to say the least.
You specifically said Poch has absolutely “no connection to Utd” so why would he want to go there? Him, by his own admission, idolising Ferguson proves that is factually incorrect.

Im going to go out on a limb and say that it’ll be Valverde as interim. I don’t think Carrick is going to offer them anything, at least Valverde has a chance of giving the team some recognizable method of playing.
IMO, it’d be the height of stupidity for them to appoint Carrick but they’ve not exactly been clever in the past now have they.

As you said in another post, cyber chum, due to his contract he can’t really say anything, and can only follow the party line when it comes to the cyber fishwrapping numpties… and he’d (or anybody else for that matter) would be a fool to entirely dismiss his options, now or for the future… even I wouldn’t blame him for that!
Things can change very quickly in football, we all know that.
And say ‘please’ next time!

Instead of killing the rumours he talks about how they could affect his team and are part and parcel of the game! He could kill the rumours in 2 seconds banjo!
