Utd and Newcastle going out int he group stages will basically guarantee that the PL gets 4 CL teams next season, instead of 5.
I am pretty annoyed by this. It’s going to be near impossible to ever turn that around, since they’ll be competing with a 5 team La Liga, with 4 PL sides from here on.
Idiots.

Wouldn’t be too sure, Mak, England do have quite a healthly lead at the top of the table, and the Italian/Spanish teams will take points of each other anyway, even if the English teams don’t… for us to fall behind the Italians and into 3rd, I think they would need to get every team through to the semis of both CL & Europa to have any chance of making up the 16 points difference this season.

And even if they did, that would mean the Spanish in 2nd place wouldn’t get enough to overtake as well. Bet several bags of Monster Munch the Prem will get 5 next year.

Chucky, it’s possible that what I heard is wrong alright.

Threeps, going back to what you said about Utd and intensity, dead on.
This is why wonder if an idiot that Keane is, he might be the man for them short term.

This is the one game where Utd might find the drive but I said that last season too.
I don’t want them to raise their game for us, because it’ll only hinder us and it wont help them at all.

I just don’t know why the Utd fans don’t demand something better though. I wouldn’t catch Liverpool if this is what they were still doing. Im not talking about bad results, Im talking about a sense of them going somewhere.
We’ve been through it ourselves and it was horrible but they have always had so much more money to spend than us, until recently.
They’;ve just been throwing it on a fire.
Just so weird and a cautionary tale too.

Anyway, that’s a handy draw for the Prem from a UEFA coefficiant point of view, the with Italians, Germans and Spainish teams guranteed to take points from each other… unless the Goonies and Moneybags let us down… 🙂

Mak, Liverpool spent absolutely loads during the 90s and 00s. Outspent Utd. It was once Ferguson left that we started spending crazy money trying to recapture some of that glory. I couldn’t stop watching my team just because they aren’t winning trophies or seem to lack direction. It’s not fun but that’s football. imagine if the only ones who watched their teams were the ones who were successful. That would be the end of football. You say Utd fans don’t demand more. Utd fans have been protesting about the Glazers ever since they came in. Every single week. I assumed everyone was aware of that. What exactly is it you think Utd fans should be doing?
