“when people have sinister agendas they dont give a flying fuck if you lay down the full facts”
You know I ignored your question about Kerkez because of your unwaving negative opinion of him? Ironic you now mention agendas.
As for your criticism of us critising Slot, do yoh still not understand what he was doing and the negative impact it had? Its pretty simple, I think nearly all Liverpool fans understood.
Slot started to mess it up towards the later part of the 24/25 season when his style, his tactics and more importantly his training methods became prominent and it was downhill from there. And yes it can take that amount of time to transition from one style to another. By the start of the 25/26 season “Slotball” was sadly in full swing with pretty poor results and boring as fuck to watch.
I will give Iraola time as it could take a long time to fix the mess Slot left the team in. But as others have mentioned this window has left him short in a number of areas so he is hamstrung already.
First thing he should do is tell Gravenberch that he is not an attacking midfielder.
My team, I do not expect Iraola to play this
Ali
Frimpong Araujo VvD Kerkez
Gravenberch MacAllister
Szoboszlai Wirtz Gakpo
IsakSzoboszlai to wonder into midfield rather than playing as a winger or inside forward, Frimpong to utilise the space he will vacate. So slightly asymmetric when in possesion, but the Hungarian covering the right side when out.

3rd September 2026 at 11:12 am #255629Hes talking about szobo at rb aswell. Was really hoping we would stop all that but hes our beat option to play there atm. We dont have great crossers of the ball in the tram but hes not bad when out wide right whipping one in
Doubt we will see barcola start i expect sane team as last week with ezobo at rb and grav in midfield

3rd September 2026 at 11:26 am #255632The thing is Szoboszlai at either RB or RW makes more sense than at CM, which is weird when he’s our best midfielder. If his midfield partner was disciplined and solid then we could accept his defensive frailties in the middle.
I don’t have a problem of him playing RB and inverting into midfield, but not sure Iraola will do that, he likes his wing overloads.

3rd September 2026 at 11:48 am #255634Yes it is a ridiculous situation whereby last season we wondered game to game who would be playing RB (Frimpomg, Bradley, Szobo, Jones, Gomez all played there) and not 2 games into the season we have Szobo at RB already.
He very well might have to start there for a while until the position is resolved one way or another.
But that then leaves us short in the midfield 2; with the viable options being Grav, Maca or Nyoni, when we start playing 3 games a week starting now.Doubt Barcola will start myself Sean, maybe he will, but can see him off the bench.

3rd September 2026 at 12:15 pm #255637If Szobo does start at RB or starts playing significant minutes in that position, that tells you everything you need to know about Iraola’s view of Frimpong.
I doubt it will happen, but if it does, why on earth was Frimpong not moved on AND if Frimpong has anything about him, he’ll not accept losing his place to a midfielder.
Let’s see what happens, hopefully Frimpong will get to grips with the role.

3rd September 2026 at 12:19 pm #255638Absolutely Mac.
I would imagine everyone would hope that Frimpong gets to grip with what is required from Iraola to play RB.However in the meantime, do we just keep dropping points?

Well fine, now answer the question.. is kerkez gonna be the revelation that we all expected this season? Since you kept saying to me โits tacticsโ and โslots faultโ iraolas the man who made him, right?
Does anyone(bar notorious) on this forum think kerkez is gonna be the worthy replacement for Robertson?

3rd September 2026 at 2:04 pm #255656Asian ill give kerkes time as he was one of the best left backs in the pl under iarola chum. Lets see if he can get the best out of him. He needs to learn how to cross a ball though.

3rd September 2026 at 2:05 pm #255657@mcclad after viewing the game a second time i didnt think frimping was actually that bad, he got in behind a few times and just couldnt get the final ball in(though his crossing is woeful). Was disappointed for the penalty as there was confusion(can happen) between him and jacquet but it was a foul throw anyway.
He also worked hard and a got a brilliant pass to wirtz but came from a touch and go offside position. The risk we have is frimpong is prone to injury so probably taken off for that reason. To accommodate all
Our midfielders szobo does play as an inverted fullback, got a great cross to isak aswell. Connor bradley wont be back until winter they sayโฆ so probably be ready for february.. dont know why we let ramsay go knowing thisโฆ but i think iraola knew he would be utilising szobo there._____________________________

3rd September 2026 at 2:09 pm #255659@sean unfortunately ive never seen him
play before he came to us, however, theres nothing there that fills me with confidence in attack or defence. But you’re right hes still young and hopefully can improve. I know threeps might not believe this but im hoping he proves me wrong and has my full backing when he plays.

3rd September 2026 at 2:38 pm #255669Asian, Iยดve just mentioned that our defensive mistakes have not come from the left flank basically, except our first goal when Kerkez got outpaced by Elanga. Two of our mistakes can be blamed on Frimpong, he is too erratic and too often out of position. Our forth goal conceded is a cluster fuck of errors, that can be blamed on 6 different players!

3rd September 2026 at 2:50 pm #255674Which 2 goals are your referring to? If its both for notthingham game, then i disagree. Sure the secondgoal is his fault for not continuing to chase the player, which ive explained. The first one was gakpo not folliwng his man similar to frimpong for the second goal.

3rd September 2026 at 3:24 pm #255683@sean โWritz had a good game sat and set up a goal. He needs games to show us why we paid 116m with new managerโ
Its a toughie, i wouldnt wanna drop wirtz, but szobo is more effective off the ball in that position. Wirtz not only scored(offside) and got an assist, he also got a secondary(pass to gakpo) assist too.
Frimpong offers a lot more width and can overlap and underlap really well. Most of our chances and attacks came from our right flank thanks to him. You put szobo there and we might not be as effective there in the attackโฆ maybe more solid in defence.
Ipswich would probably park the bus? so with all the possession you would need the guile of wirtz to unlock them. Though he had a good game, drop macalsiter and have szobo play there(shooting from outside the box) and have frimpong, munoz on the right wing(i know ther both short but theyre rapid and both can track back).
Jacquet to play in defence, theres something about Araujo that reminds me of konate, he looks like he has a mistake in him. He also looks sluggish sometimes which is a worryโฆ Maybe its the nerves of conceding which is jarring my judgement

3rd September 2026 at 4:28 pm #255687The thing people are not talking about enough is why we are near the bottom of the running stats.
As a team we donโt look fit enough and also the lack of effort from some players is noticeable. Isak and Gakpo the biggest culprits. This then spreads through the team.
The slot playing style hangover is continuing and may take a while to get over.

3rd September 2026 at 4:50 pm #255688Ye redwarrior, its like looking at a slot team but i really think iarola will get these guys super fit but it will take time
Isak looked done after 60 min last week
I like the way iarola has said window is closed now its time for him to show what he can do

3rd September 2026 at 6:15 pm #255693What asian? Frimpong is offering width, he has not managed one cross this season and has been the main culprit when defending. The 25 minutes played by Szobo produced more than what ever game time Frimpong has gotten.
He should not be offering width, he should not be bombing down that flank leaving the defense exposed. Especially when he has zero end product.

3rd September 2026 at 6:31 pm #255695It’s been two games. I think some on here are expecting an instant change. New Manager bounce? It’s actually more of a myth than something worth discussing..
The running and intensity will come but it won’t be instant. As I said you can already see more forward passing than from Slot’s time and attacks are giving the defence less time to organise. Far from perfect, again it will take time, but there are small signs.
I’m worried about our midfield but that’s a collective worry, I hope Iraola can find a way for it to work with what we have. The only player that I have slight worries about is actually Isak who still looks unfit despite looking OK at the WC. A player with movement makes such a difference but he isn’t providing they, but maybe Barcola closer to him will help.

3rd September 2026 at 6:32 pm #255696Frimpong’s final ball is simply horrific. Once he gets in the final third he just hits it across, seemingly not really aiming for anyone.
He’s about as organised as a kite in a storm.
