What an absolute waste of money on Pool’s part… and naturally confirms Wee Phil is off, be it next month or next summer (probably summer!) and with Salah already making noises about leaving, you’ll be left with Mane and Firmino as your attacking threats before too long…

I don’t think there is a Liverpool fan in the world who doesn’t expect Coutinho to go to Barcelona, and you’re right that the VVD fee is being covered by Phil’s fee, but I say again, it’s nothing we didn’t know 4 months ago.

The Sky poll on whether VVD is worth the £75m fee came back with 77% of the 171,000 respondents saying no he isn’t. No surprises there but if VVD helps Liverpool win a trophy or two perhaps even the PL he might be worth £75m to them.

Chucky, if the defensive faults are addressed and if Jurgen can formulate a defensive unit, then that would make us a lot stronger than vulnerable.
I would say though, Mignolet still has that howler in him.
I was thinking about this though and in all fairness, we’re probably talking potentially a good 8/9 years since Liverpool had a really good steady defensive unit. We’ve had players come and go but we’ve papered the cracks.
In fairness too, our Manager needed to get his skates on addressing these matters because in the long run it would impact his tenure and if he can get it right, he could stay with us for years to come.

Nil, I wouldn’t count on Klopp staying for years mate I read his interview in the Telegraph where he said he couldn’t see himself going past 7 years at Liverpool which given that the average tenure of a PL Manager is 1 year 2 months is not so bad.

Nil… Klopp is never going to beat the money-teams, end of story, sorry chum! He might beat one, or possibly even two in a good year, but he’ll never beat all 3 in the same season. Never going to happen my cyber chum!
