There’s a chance of one English team meeting another, that’s the nature of the beast. If not in earlier rounds, then the latter or the final, unless you or them are eliminated.
I think though with Europe and especially one that offers a 2-legged affair, it’s a different proposition.

Oz we’ve got players capable of winning games against those sides but a defence of Young, Smalling, Lindelof and Shaw is just not good enough at this level and is certainly the weakest of the PL sides. Our midfield is effective but not mobile enough.

Indeed it is Chucky and 2012 was such a long time ago too.
Fortunately since 2012 Chelsea have won 2 PL titles , the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup but I can’t recall who we beat in that Final. It might have been one of those crappy Club’s you referred to.
1961 what a year that was eh the first man in Space, West Side story was released ,the Jaguar E type came out, the Beatles first hit was still a year away and……!

Ajax and Porto aside who are the obvious preferred choices for everyone who would you want in the draw Sean?
Both the CL and EL draws today with draws in both for the Qtr Finals and the Semi Finals too.
In the EL draw I would prefer to avoid Napoli and Arsenal.

I’m not overly keen on playing a fellow PL opposition team if I’m brutally honest, though really enjoyed playing Man City last year.
The reason behind it is the talk and Liverpool are rarely tipped as favourite or nobody seems to have confidence in them going through. So from that point of view, it’s not really an enjoyable experience reading message boards and then on top of that, dealing with ‘punditry’ from all quarters of the media.
I felt we did exceptionally well last year until the point of purely bad officiating of the game and the Karius blunders. If we do get paired with an English game, I’m going to shut-down the whole lot and stay away bar maybe BBC 5 Live.

I think Liverpool can beat anyone left in the tournament…on their day! Equally they could lose to any of the teams left.
For the draw in order of preference for me it would be Porto, Ajax, Spurs, Manu, Juventus, Barca and City.
I know -people have been saying it would be better for Liverpool to go out of Europe to concentrate on the league, I completely disagree. Momentum and winning games is all important. In January after the defeat at the Etihad, we then went out with a whimper to Wolves in the FA Cup. Second string team or not, it was suddenly 2 games on the bounce we had lost, and since then we have struggled to regain the momentum we had in December. So stay in both competitions as long as you can!

Would live to see a Manchester derby, pretty sure that’s never happened before in Europe.
Porto and Ajax are the obvious choices of most but teams would need to avoid complacency against those two.
Whilst City are most people’s favourites I have a feeling its Juve’s turn. Ronaldo is just a freak especially in the champions league and they have an experienced defence.
Juve vs Barca and City vs Utd would be nice. Any of the others for Liverpool.

All good points Hightown and although the latter stages of the CL take a lot out of everyone especially the title chasers with three big games in 10 days across the Qtr Finals and Semi Finals it can as you rightly say also add momentum.
