Just watched the game for the second time to get a better perspective.
Firstly the refereeing was shocking, munoz was hard done throughout the game. Wasnt a penalty as the shot was away and not much allison can do, frimpong foul start of 2nd half, play continues and later the referee blows the whistle once liverpool win the ball back?? Theres countless others, munoz push from the back at full speed, no penalty blatant push on ngumoha, no foul… Couldnt get our subs on due a technical issue, 2 seconds later and a foul throw to boot, penalty to forest. These factors can really agitate players, tactics, and mentality’s.
Onto the game macalister was our best player in the first half, kept the game ticking nicely and did a good through ball to gakpo, solid in the tackles. Gakpo, isak and wirtzz were anonymous. However after wirtz disallowed goal he tried to get into the game. I didnt think frimpong was as bad as people made him, kerkez offered zero going forward, but was relatively solid in defence.
Second half gakpo and wirtz got more into the game. Besides isaks goal he could have done slightly better with some of the half chances… nyonis cameo was really good, ngumoha is wasted on the right and is currently struggling to get into games. Great goal for munoz and deserved it after the he was treated all game. Szobo played better as a right back than he did as a midfielder… some loose passing from him.
Its early days, but lets get something straight everyone knows we should have had 3 points from both these games. Besides notorious(dont know whats he smoking), weve had an easy start to the premier league and dominated both games to teams who are going through major transition… disappointed.
