Just reading back on this thread but need to respond, Bingo, Alonso didn’t turn us down for Madrid. He turned us down as he just won the league with Leverkusen and wanted to stay there for another season. When the Madrid job became available Slot had just won the league so Alonso becoming available and the liverpool vacancy haven’t aligned.. yet.
Still concerned there might be a twist on the Alonso tale, and a lot of it depends on what Pep does. Could see either Enrique or Kompany move to City and their clubs move for Alonso. Or even Alonso moves to City, share some similar playing philosophies.
Whoever comes in, and please someone has to, they really need to get the training sorted to fix the fitness and intensity levels. Never seen us so lethargic and unfit. Rodgers and Hodgson had some poor times but never with such quality at their disposal that Slot has.
