The rule is changing to prevent ‘amortisation’, at least I think that’s the word. Chelsea bought a load of young player for huge amounts but by paying them off over the course of the seven or eight year contract they were able to stay within PSR rules. Now you can’t do that. My understanding, limited and possibly wrong, is that if you go and buy, say, Christos Mouzakitis from Olympiacos for £80m plus wages over five years. Now your PSR reflects £16m a year over five years. When the rules change, it will be £80m now, regardless of if you pay off over five years.
