The answer to your question stems back to the Klopp-Edwards era. Klopp and Edwards were always at logger heads on transfers and ultimately Klopp won and Edwards quit.
Edwards came back to control the club from top to bottom, then gave his mate Hughes the Dof position for more control…so they want a puppet coach to do as they instruct. Basically, its a power grab by appointing a coach as a cover and someone to blame other than themselves.
Thinking about it, since clubs put this structure in place, haven’t we seen the increase in sackings go through the roof??
