That’s a very good point moonster and something I’ve been thinking about recently. Alonso at Leverkusen was very much a manager, he was heavily involved in transfers, in progressing the clubs vision etc.
We all know Slot is a head coach and Hughes is the main man for transfers but the summer showed me there’s a very thick line drawn between their roles. It didn’t seem to me that Slot had any input or that Hughes considered what Slot wanted at all.
In my opinion would Alonso want to work under the current situation? Probably not, and it’s probably ruling out a lot of potential appointments. But maybe it’s been highlighted somewhere in the management chain that the system isn’t working and it will change, then I could see Alonso adapting. Think he will want more of a say on transfers as opposed to letting Hughes play real life Fantasy football.
Of course there are rumours that Hughes and maybe even Edwards may lose their jobs too.
