Arne Slot is going to be a disaster for Liverpool.

The likes of Ferguson, Jose, Klopp, Pep, Ten Hag made a name for themselves because of what they accomplished in Europe. Ten Hags Ajax were in the semi final of the CL, beating Real Madrid, Juventus and narrowly losing to Spurs.

Klopp showed what he is capable of at Dortmund, when they reached the final of the CL and Ferguson at Aberdeen.

Arne Slot side struggled in the CL and Europa league this season. He hasn’t over achieved, he literally has done well in a poor quality Dutch league. Only winning the title once.

That’s where you’re wrong Banjo. I am a fan of Pep, I believe I have never seen a manager come in and have his sides dominate games the way they have done, but that only works to an extent. Wenger did it, but he never had the backing Pep has.

You being a Spurs fan, considering the limitations your club has on buying players. Who would you trust to challenge in today’s game? Klopp or Pep.

I would have Klopp because he has done it at Liverpool and Dortmund. That’s what I believe makes an elite manager.

I believe too much is made of Pep, when context is being taken out.

Like you say Banjo, debating who is the greatest will never be agreed on.

Paisley, Shankly, Busby, Ferguson, Jose, Pep, Jock Stein, Klopp all did things and won things in their own unique.

I believe the question was asked, would Pep be capable of competing with a line up that consistently cost 260m in today’s era compared to one that cost €700m.even after Madrid spends a fortune on Bellingham, they still managed to field a side thay cost 1/3 of Peps. I also read that Peps starting 11 yesterday cost over 100m more than Chelsea’s. This is them without Haaland and Gvardiol.

If everything was even financially for him, where would he be?

There have been many top managers who managed clubs like Dortmund, Aberdeen and Porto and had them compete against the elite.

When Ferguson took over Manchester United, they were in the relegation zone. He was offered the Spurs and Arsenal job at the time, who were in a much better position on and off the pitch and went with Manchester United due to the challenge.

Klopp had his Dortmund side competing after they were midtable for so many seasons. Having them reach a CL final. Went to Liverpool after rejecting Manchester United, had his Liverpool side go toe to toe against City, a side that spent 40m+ on almost every position.

Pep is an exceptional tactician, but I always felt he always takes the easy option, rather than a challenge. At the time he took over City, they had Kompany, Yaya, Silva, Fernandinho, Aguero. They won the league title with Pellegrini. Pellegrini went to West Ham and was sacked after they were in a relegation battle. What does that tell you?

My opinion on Pep is he always takes on challenges where he can build around a team, rather than build a team. Ten Hag has to build a side with a mentality of challenging, Pep wouldn’t want that challenge because it is a big risk for him, whilst Ferguson, Klopp would.

A clear handball in the box.

Walker shoved Jackson in the box and did not give a penalty. Yet Walker committed the same foul towards the end outside the box and he gave a free kick.

                            Nil-

Isn’t it telling that this is Klopp worse side in years, had to deal with so many injuries and yet he is still going toe to toe with Pep in the league?

City suffer when they lose Rodri and De Bruyne. Imagine if they had to deal with the same level of injuries as Klopp has done this season. Yet Klopp still has Liverpool challenging for the league.

Pep has never been in position where he has had to deal with long term injuries to more than 2 of his key players. That is because he has always had the best strength in depth the game has seen. If he had a depleted side, that is where your skills definitely come in to play.

An interesting topic. I also believe refereeing has changed and influenced how the game is being played. Zola I could see flourishing in today’s era because he would most likely be more protected. Some challenges that were allowed back in the 90s, will be punished today.

I reckon Rooney, Tevez, Torres, Aguero, Villa, Henry would have flourished in todays era. But 10-15 years ago teams played 4-4-2, you had 1 forward who scored the goals and another who held up play. Now the front 3 are expected to do the hold up play and score the goals and traditional wingers have been made redundant.

I wonder how wide players back then would do in today’s game playing 4-3-3 and as wide forwards. Players like Giggs would have benefited from it imo. Whilst I believe players like Salah would struggle playing in a midfield 4 back then.

If Pep wants to actually prove himself, rather than at sides who guarantee him trophies, he should take over Alonso at Leverkusen when he leaves.

Let’s see if he can replicate or surpass what Alonso has done, on the budget Alonso has had.

                                    What an achievement for Alonso!

Would Pep be capable of achieving that considering the resources Pep has had at the clubs he has managed.

                                    This era is shockingly bad.

We gone from comparing Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Vieira, Keane, Mascherano, Ballack, Alonso, Fabregas, Essien(all elite and world class)to comparing De Bruyne, Fred, McTominay, Rice, Endo, MacCalister and so on(most players who would be playing for mid table sides over a decade ago)

To having different styles of play compete against each to always wanting to pass the ball in to the net.

Dropping 7 points in 3 games and top 4/5 pretty much out of sight now. How the might has fallen. Europa conference league here we come. Still have Newcastle, Brighton, Arsenal to play and win, then relying on Spurs and Villa to drop points in most games that are remaining.

Absolutely dreadful performance again. It is depressing how Arsenal, City, Liverpool can go toe to toe against each other regardless who is playing, yet United get outplayed and rely on errors and individual brilliance or moments.

Willy, Maino, Dalot, Onana played well and that is about it.

I would sell Bruno and Rashford. Bruno on his day can be brilliant, but those days are rare. How slow our transition from defence to attack is down to him. How slow our counter attacks are is because of him. He isn’t a big game player, he doesn’t get us out of a rut or grips the game from the scruff of the neck. Sell him and build a side around Maino. Use the money on reinforcements elsewhere. Similar to what Liverpool did with Countinho. Sometimes selling your key player could get you money to spend on better players in key areas that are needed.

Unfortunately Bruno isn’t out Robbo, Scholes or Keane.
