16th August 2024 at 10:06 am #215263Yeah, feel sorry for Yoro. Hard enough to make that move at the best of times, especially for one so young, but to now have to make a debut after 3 months out injured can’t be an easy task.

16th August 2024 at 11:29 am #215265Fair points Sean and Threeps. Let’s see. As I said, I haven’t watched him much since he went to Bayern aside from a few CL games. I do find it reassuring that Bayern fans are so sad to see him go but that will count for little if he doesn’t perform.

16th August 2024 at 12:42 pm #215266Ye ed, lets wait and see. As a utd fan you would have to be positive, no doubt the squad is strengthened . Business done quickly and efficiently . Performance v city and injured players back. A very positive pre-season for utd

16th August 2024 at 12:42 pm #215267I think the De Ligt signing is a good calculated risk. Plenty of big game experience, played at the top level for a sustained period of time and is still relatively young for a centre back. I think he could end up being a good signing. Also, if for some reason it doesn;t quite work out, they should still be able to sell him for a similar amount they have bought him for. Yoro is only 18 and even if he was fit, he isn’t going to play every game at that age in the centre of defence. The lad needs to learn the game still.

24th April 2025 at 6:41 am #219068Time to revisit this? Still the CL places to sort out but top two and bottom 3 already fixed.
Looking at the posts seems we all over estimated Spurs and Utd.
The De Ligt signing received a lot of attention, how do we rate that now? Difficult to judge maybe in such a poor team, but underwhelming maybe?
Kudos to Mikus the only one to predict the winners I think. Special mention to Chucky for predicting Solenke would score 30 goals!

24th April 2025 at 12:03 pm #219070Ed predicted Newcastle to win the League Cup and I predicted it to be KDB’s last year. I did say he would go to Saudi so we will have to wait and see on that one.
A few predicted Forest to go down….

28th April 2025 at 10:04 am #219088Good to see you back on here Mikus, hope you’re good and Well Done Predicting us!!
Chucks, re your comment on the other thread calling it for us in Nov, for me the sort of ‘red alert’ was when Man City had lost 3 in a row and Liverpool were sitting top of the Table. I always feel they’re the signs and the first 10/12 games sort of define whether or not you’ll be challenging for the Title. Only though of course, if you’re sat at the Top of The Tree.
Difficult run of fixtures too early doors; didn’t really fancy us with Chelsea and Arsenal away. Xmas went well for us as well as Jan and Feb which I believe were the months and periods where you can quite easily lose points and allow yourself to drop positions.
That spell in March when we got knocked out of the CL and lost the Cup Final, I thought we would collapse. Arsenal in fairness were kind to us and didn’t really push us as much as I thought they would.
The key in the race though wasn’t to get carried away and exhibit professionalism until we got over the Line.

28th April 2025 at 10:55 am #219089Goonies “issue” was simply not having the sort of striker who was likely to be chasing the Golden Boot… it was obvious to me after about 12 games they were not going to give anybody a “decent” race for the title but stay at the top of the chasing pack… never going to score enough.
As you say, 115 completely collapsed after Rodders got injured, they were never going to catch-up, and quite frankly, nobody else was good enough…
Not taking anything away from Pool, easily the best team in the country this season and deserving of the title.
Roll on next year… (I’ll say it now, of the Goonies buy Isak they will be a lot closer!)

28th April 2025 at 11:02 am #219092Just checked, Goonies don’t have a single player who’s reached double digits in the Prem (Havertz leading on 9)…

28th April 2025 at 12:50 pm #219095That’s a quality prediction Mikus. Genuinely thought Liverpool would be miles off. Congrats to the Liverpool fans anyway. Enjoy.
As for De Ligt, I think he’s been decent. Pretty much what I expected. Stable without being extraordinary. A few mistakes but on the whole, I can understand why Bayern fans were sad to see him go. I’d be looking to keep him as a squad player, definitely.
