1st May 2025 at 8:40 am #219105Unbelievable scenes on sunday. Dreamworld really
Had an amazing day. Scenes at the ground and around liverpool
Were amazingGoing to be an absolute unbelievable parade. Cant wait to lift the trophy . Covid was a real kick in the balls with no fans to celebrate but we will make up for it now
People talk about us not being challenged but we have 82 points. We are on schedule for 90 points. We have done our job amazingly well
Cities drop off is the huge surprise but spurs, Chelsea and utd have not been at for a wgile. The top 6?teams were not great but Its never been as difficult to go to places like brighton, fulham, Bournemouth, palace, villa, Newcastle, Brentford. The so called smaller teams have gotten so much better while top teams have dropped off
Crazy to think were utd and even sours are. Ill really enjoy really of the season and celebrations will continue . Unbelievable stuff

1st May 2025 at 10:02 am #219106Hope you’re hanging in there, Mikus…
This season has simply turned into one to forget for us Spuds, new manager looking more likelier than a dumbass post from Buffy, rumors about needing to sell before we can buy (can’t figure that one out) and certain players getting ready to jump ship (not too fussed about Cuti, entertaining to watch, but would be far more upset if Micky leaves!), and no idea what to expect next year… guess we have to see who the manager is first but I really don’t think we’re as bad as the points make out… certainly score enough goals to easily be top half of the table.. just a tweak in the defence to stop leaking so many.
Certainly expect Top 10 next year…
As for YooUtd, all depends on recruitment this summer… but, again, they do have a squad full of decent interntationals, would expect them back in the top 10 next season too…
But, as Waspy says, a lot of the “half-decent” mid-size clubs have morphed into “pretty-decent” mid-size clubs and can give anybody a run for their money…
The only “good news” is I reckon gap is getting bigger and bigger between the Prem and the Championship… already expecting the three coming up to go stright back down again!

1st May 2025 at 10:15 am #219107Could we conclude some sort of a ‘pronounce’ that the teams we expect or have known in the example of a decade ago are no longer of that prestige and are or below par of the so-called lesser sides?
Question asked also going into the summer is that who is strong enough to forge a challenge for the Title or the course of 38 games?
I would like to put my money on Newcastle. I think it’s the depth of their squad they need to work on but when they put out their best first 11, they could match anybody on the day, including us and beat us!

1st May 2025 at 10:40 am #219109I’d disagree with the Bone Saw Boyz, don’t think they’re that strong in depth (yet) and if they lose Isak, would be in big trouble… plus they play far too pragmatic away from home… shoe-in for Top 6 ish next year but not a title charge…
Hate to say it, but I think the Goonies, if they get a 20 plus a season #9, would likely be favourites next year… and obviously Pool will be up there, especially if they get a 20 plus #9!!
Hard to see anybody else catching those two… more like those two have a bad run of form (or injury) and dropping back to the chasing pack.

1st May 2025 at 12:25 pm #219110Why is it good news that the gap is getting bigger between the Prem and the Championship? That’s terrible news!

1st May 2025 at 12:57 pm #219111I was being sarcastic, the “good news” being now it’s unlikely any established Prem team is likley to suck more than the 3 promoted sides… even Spuds or YooUtd…
But, yes, it’s bad news indeed… especially when you the likes of the financially doped clubs too running amok with the rules…
Unfortunately, the solution is to adopt a more stringent approach like the American sports teams, salary caps etc…

1st May 2025 at 9:55 pm #219114It is possible for newly promoted teams from the Championship to bridge the gap as we have witnessed with some that have established themselves and progressed. Equally, we’ve seen teams decline and examples as far as being in League One.
There are then those who simply can’t cut the Top Flight. Southampton a good example of this. I’ve mentioned before that a 4th Relegation place could make that bottom part more interesting.

2nd May 2025 at 6:33 am #219115It’s a disgrace that such lowly teams like United and Spurs will qualify for the CL, it’s just not right. The log position should be taken into account and rather given to the 6th placed team.

2nd May 2025 at 9:00 am #219116Them’s the rules, cyber chum, unfortunately there are a lot of absurd rules at the moment which a lot of clubs are bending to the point of stupidity these days…
So, what rule would you like to see? I mean, is it entirely fair, for example, lets YooUtd win the the Europa League but give the spot to Fulham, who have won 14 games in the Prem vs YooUtd who have won 11?

2nd May 2025 at 9:50 am #219120Valid point Rover, can’t disagree with it as such. I guess the other way to look at this being the best of the ‘bad bunch’. When Liverpool won the CL back in 2005, we were branded under Rafa ‘a cup side’ as we weren’t particularly good in the league. In the same sentence though, I certainly don’t recall us languishing below mid-table! So the point made is valid.
One might argue though not to begrudge the progression of Spurs and United and whether or not they’ve been sub-standard against their own standards, clearly they must have done something right to progress and reach this far.
It’s looking like an all English Final which is something personally I would like to see.
I think too, in relation to the now new format of the CL, these teams will be founded out if they don’t improve. I do think now that takes care of itself and sorts the wheat from the chaff. It’s an alternative route and an opportunity though. My one bee in bonnet though is that a team that finished with 13 points in PSG against the team finishing top with 21 points, the latter was knocked out of the second round (we know who we’re talking about here 😉 wink wink), but that’s sods law one might argue and perhaps one of the beauties of the knock-out stages 🙂

2nd May 2025 at 9:54 am #219121Chucks, I wonder though whether there is a correlation ultimately here as both Spurs and United mirror each other in league positions and where they have reached in Europa. Would it be fair to accept some teams just don’t have the squad and the quality to hit the ‘metrics’ in all competitions? Where one has had the bar raised, the other as a result has declined?

2nd May 2025 at 10:53 am #219125Can’t speak for YooUtd, but after our league form fell off a cliff, it was obvious since the knock-out rounds started us Spuds were playing a lot more of what I would call “fringe” players in the Prem and saving legs for Thursdays… which obviously had a dramatic effect on the League form and, as we’re 3-1 up in the semi’s with the 2nd leg to play looks like a smart decision for the Europa…
Have a feeling Angie would have been thinking differently if we were still “Top7” in the League when the knock-outs started…
Coulda/woulda/shoulda… 🙂

4th May 2025 at 5:56 pm #219135Absolute disgrace that Liverpool have gifted Chelsea 3 points today(not the 1st time too). How is that fair on the other sides competing for the CL spots. Chelsea should have those points stripped away and Liverpool should have 50 points deducted.
Reckon the above is more immoral than a side winning a trophy to gain entry to another competition. 1 has been a gift, whilst the other has been earned by beating sides who turn up.

4th May 2025 at 8:09 pm #219136CM, hard to disagree with those sentiments and re the integrity of the league.
It’s the same combination of players Slot plays all in one run. They’re just not good enough so this is going to irate fans of other teams because they’re fighting for places up for grabs.
Sure, we’ve won it, and I’m grateful, but in the same breath, I just don’t want our guys thinking they’re on the Beach.

4th May 2025 at 9:24 pm #219137Press is having a field day about this. It just generates clicks because involves United. Nobody would bat an eye lid if it was just Spurs involved.
End of the day United and Spurs entered the Europa League on merit. The end result winning the trophy was always CL qualification.
Didn’t 5th spot also open up for CL qualification because how well Spurs and United have done in Europe.
Kick both out of the competition and that 5th spot ends up going to Spain.

4th May 2025 at 9:32 pm #219138That’s the rule, and neither of us made it. So, whoever wins it, the prize is CL place!
