Sean, that wasn’t meant as a criticism mate.
I think Liverpool will have learned from last seasons battle with City and if they get into the same position again they won’t let them slip off the hook again.
City are a great team and you just can’t afford to give them an inch.
I think the game at OT was the crucial game I said at the time that 0-0 draw against a very weakened United might cost Liverpool the title and that City would have won that game and so it unfortunately for you guys proved.
As I said in my post Liverpool won’t go that close again without winning it. Let’s see what tomorrow brings. Cheers 99916th June 2019 at 2:23 pm #42647
Mak, I wasn’t suggesting anyone should draw a line under last season mate I was just suggesting we should draw a line under some of what followed Nils original post on here.
You’re right though the Champions League isn’t bad compensation is it.😊16th June 2019 at 2:28 pm #42649
Very fine margins when it all comes down to it and the metal and endurance to see it through to the final game. City could argue the point of Mahrez’s missed Pen.
United went into half-time at 0-0 against City at OT, but it all fell apart. If Iheanacho was in form, that chance for Leicester would have been buried and it would have been 1-1.
Equally, for us, there was Pickford, Lloris, Speroni, and even the Saints keeper gave us a helping hand.
Realistically, I can’t see Liverpool repeat 97 points, but could more than capable of hitting 80s, though that wouldn’t be enough the way City have known to be in recent history.16th June 2019 at 2:40 pm #42650

Mr. Balance, if you wan to talk fine margins have a look at the women’s tour (cycling) 6 days 770km and the winning gap was 2 seconds…..Pagan16th June 2019 at 9:35 pm #42671
“We just didn’t have the experience from a mental point of view to handle the talk of 7 points raised and sort of amplified by the media.”
This. you see lads, there is actually is a downside to having such insane focus on the club.
Ya Nil, I knew it was mostly likely over for us when we dropped the points against everton. I mean, we shook ourselves off but just too late. I think we had 5 draws within about 8-9 games? I mean you could say “you cant be doing that!!” but the fact is, in any normal se3ason, we’d have been so far clear at that stage that it wouldnt have mattered. It was a freak season. I hope thats the end of the insanely high PL points tallies. Obviously I hope we get as many as possible and win it but the run in was just beyond silly. win after win after win from both sides…17th June 2019 at 2:02 pm #42681
Mak, totally get where you’re coming from on the focus. The talk extracted and repeated often led to us overthinking and analysing every other ‘pit-stop’ which is all part of the journey.
We will grow to be mentally resilient, I am confident of that.
