“Klopp put all his eggs into winning the PL and the CL. Only time will tell whether he was right to do that.”

Well yeah, it’s always going to easy to critise with the benefit of hindsight. In my opinion with the squad we have and the opportunity we have in the league he made the right decision. If we fall short I’m not going to point the finger at him and say we should of focused on the cup. No one knows what will happen in the future (except Oz in his depressing world of City dominance!), or what could of happened if this happened or he did that etc.

“I didn’t want to go out tonight but I back Klopp in having the balls to proritize” I think we were both singing from the same hymn sheet Mak.

Normal service will I’m sure be resumed on Saturday and going out of the FA Cup might be an advantage in Liverpool’s challenge for the PL title.

Although not an excuse as such, could have done with one these games at Anfield.

Another away game and Brighton will be tough.

Not many teams have won at the Amex.

I didn’t realise also that last night, Fabinho was classed as a centre back for us – maybe I’m wrong. 🙄😽

Still plenty of recovery time now. Just hope January doesn’t turn out to be an Achilles heel for us 🙅‍♂️

Mak no way would I write keita off after a few months. He was injured after starting the season well but he has been disappointing but no way would I write him off

He had a few good games before Christmas and then has to come againest wolves 17 days ago

Sturridge is finished. Moreno is terrible

Fringe players aren’t as good as people make out

No problem with the team we picked last night. The better team won

No need to panic but drop points on sat and it’s a different story

To take a back seat and assess the bigger picture, this is one of the reasons why big investment is needed in brining top quality players to occupy different playing positions and to be competitive and consistent.

A juggling act for Klopp as far as the squad goes and outlining employee that they have a part to play.

For reasons, I’ve slated plenty of times down the years Mignolet, but if Allison was to be injured, then who do we turn to? And that’s why too Moreno has stayed on our books, although you would by now in the same breath, these guys would either be sold off or their playing contracts terminated.

But no. Other players have been loaned, there are injuries or have been injuries and based on previous experience and our current position in the League, Klopp had to approach last night with ultra air of caution – kids thrown in as a result.

It makes me scratch my head why we played like strangers at times and with nervousness too.

Man City’s ‘B’ team seem to be more fined tuned and better quality. This is an area collectively the club must work on.

Long-term, players like Markovic, Moreno, and Mignolet, and Sturridge too should be moved on and we must place better emphasis in giving our younger players more time in developing them like Gomez and TAA who genuinely have established themselves.

Easier said than done though, isn’t NIL? Finding quality players who are happy to play back-up and understand their role is on the bench when everybody is fully fit? Crack that cyber chum and I’ll put in a good word for you at YooUtd (I hear they need a new manager… 🙂 )

Ed….I take it you think City’s game with Burnley is easy then.In some ways I would rather be faceing Utd, Arsenal, Spurs Burnley are capable of putting a Cup run together despite league form. It will be a tough game certainly not a “kind” game. It happened to another Lancashire team in recent times, Wigan, I see comparisons in this draw and plenty of danger

In my opinion it was the ‘senior’ fringe players who let themselves and the club down last night, not the kids. Injuries permitting and based on the fact that we are out of both domestic cups, it would not surprise me if that is the last time we ever see Sturridge, Moreno, Mignolet and Origi in a Liverpool shirt. How Sturridge could justify having a strop when subbed is totally beyond me – he was woeful.

It was very poor from my team last night, and the defeat now makes Saturday’s game enormous. All our eggs are in the Prem basket now, and if we win it then no-one will remember last night’s game. If we don’t…well, who knows! I’m just dreading VVD, Allison or Robbo getting injured – it just doesn’t bear thinking about, looking at their replacements.

Its one game but I think some of the above is true about squad depth.

Yeah, agree with all of that Hightown.

You only have to look at Man City and how much of a difference it makes to them when they have Kompany and Silva in the first 11. Kompany’s a massive presence filled with leadership and experience.

They missed Mendy and De Bryne, and players like Zinchenko need to be surrounded by experience.

Our ‘2nd 11’ didn’t turn up, so who do the kids turn to? If they’re going to get mardy about not being selected in the first team, then maybe Liverpool isn’t their long term future and they should start looking elsewhere.

Collectively to make it work and be successful, we have to pull together and it’s no good leaving it all to Milner.

Burnley at home is obviously not an easy game per se but it’s much easier than what it could have been. As you say, sometimes it’s more tricky when you get sides who you’re supposed to beat. Still, City would have snapped your hand off for Schalke, Burton and Burnley as the next fixtures in the cup games. I’d certainly swap you in a heartbeat with PSG and Arsenal away in our next Cup games!

Even I cant complain at our cup draw .
Burnley will I think be more interested in Premier League points and may put out a weakened team.
I would guess Arsenal and Utd will play their best 11?
We should beat Burton over 2 legs?
