Again, that’s the luxury of City that no other squad can compete with. That City need a LB after spending £50mil on Mendy, a RB after spending £60mil on Cancelo and a replacement for Fernandinho after spending £60mil+ on Rodri is just not fair on the rest of us Brian 😁😉

So ESL is currently on hold, but that wasn’t the big picture or a plan to save football, that was the starting point of the current bigger clubs taking over football for their own ends. The ESL was there to form a closed shop in Europe whilst still dominating the domestic leagues. So that will happen, then what? well I would suggest that once they have their own league they will add to it, so we Have ESL1 and ESL2 which effectively then knocks out the Europa League. The next step is the ESL Leagues become the Saturday games and we then get a World Super League.

It may seem far fetched, but it’s all about money, and a global league brings global money.
The European game was scoffed at by England when it started, and it was English teams that pulled out of the ESL, but like the European Cup, English teams will go into a form of European football that is controlled by the teams not by UEFA, once that happens, the global game will follow…..Pagan

Ed…mendy is useless and we purchased badly. Cancello is not a LB, original a right winger, tried at RB. but not consistent. Walker is a RB..full stop. Yes we paid a lot of money for them but in every facet of life…you win some and loose some
Since you are a Utd fan Ed. I can cheerfully say….what is better, to spend what you have on a player or feed the Shareholder more Dividends…the choice is yours!!!!!! Just watch Utd will come up with yet another major major spend and City have a way to catch up on your big stars costs!!!!!! They will just borrow some more money

Pagan….I have long held the believe that it will be a global league eventually. The Euro leagues are tired old horses, the EPL runs better because of commercial interest, which are better here than in Europe in all probability The game will die by managerial incompetence in Europe.
I hate the thought of a global league but I believe that is the bigger picture which will come with funding that neither Fifa,Uefa can compete with and that will be there own fault. The growth of football is not in Europe, the halcyon days are numbered. Just my long held view

Brian, people may laugh at the idea of European Football being in effect the domestic league, and the European Champions league becoming the world champions league, but English Football has a habit of that, we didn’t enter the first 3 world cups and laughed at the notion of the European Cup……Pagan

I wouldn’t fret about the ESL too much now, what became apparent last week was that any ESL proposal will effect the Premier League quality (as greedy 6 teams save stronger line-ups foe ESL games) and this in turn will effect TV revenue. So any financial gain via ESL TV rights will result in losses from the EPL TV rights for everyone; and considering all 92 English clubs are paid from the EPL TV deal you won’t find many of them to support the ESL proposal. Basically any English team wanting to play in an ESL tournament will have to choose ESL or English football, they won’t be allowed to play in both. That kills it for me. The important issue now is to pressure UEFA to remove ‘historic coefficient’ qualification from any new format of the CL or European competition.

The ultimate enrichment in Football should be about building and achieving your end Goal, i.e. Winning Trophies. That should be the Legacy.

These TV People, Internet, Newspapers, Radio; where they are unearthed from are a Detriment.

They are paid well. They have an Agenda. They’re in a more privileged position than that 40 Hour-A-Week Monday-Friday Man.

Influences are based on self financial gain or gain for that ‘company’. 500k A Week is an Insult. Abolish Agents. There really doesn’t need to be ‘Money’ extensively.

What we need is those Honours which I for one Respect Domestically, stood tall:

The FA CUP

The League Cup

*****Glory*****

Never Solely By Wealth

There’s a lot of crystal ball glazing on this thread now although it’s difficult to do too much else although I see a Global League as pure fantasy especially as the Club’s couldn’t even pull of a European League although allegedly it was three years in the planning.

Personally I can only see a European League as a development out of the current CL competition with the agreement of UEFA and all the major European Leagues with both promotion and relegation and the EL played in midweek alongside the current Leagues and even that is a long way off imo currently and it would probably have to be split into EL1 and EL2 with 12 teams in each as a likely maximum in each to make it practicable. I don’t think there will be any more break aways given the last outcome.

The most important thing now imo is for everyone from UEFA to the fans is to focus on the current reorganisation of the CL and get that as perfect as it can be before its introduction in 2024.

Not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion Nil it is certainly not reflected in my post ie nothing happens without the agreement of UEFA and the individual Leagues so no breakways led by American owners!!!!

And as per my post any European League is just a development of the CL and a midweek League played in tandem with all the domestic Leagues as the CL is now!

Thatere is another side to the problem Nine…if UEFA do not get this right and continue with fixture congestion owners will look at alternatives, although I hate the thought of breaking the EPL up, do not care about the La liras etc etc, fixture congestion and players overplayed will be the problem. At the moment City go into there 6th away fixture on the bounce, now, this could happen to other teams as well. Teams are having to play in extra competitions, internationals, friendlies and cope with a challenging League programme. maybe there is a plan to wear British teams out!!!!!!
It will be interesting to see what UEFA does next but I still consider Round 1 has just finished and Round 2 will be on somebody’s agenda…it is a crack that could get wider.As fans we all have a tendency to think our existing structure will go on forever, I would like it to, but it will not happen, Major change will come at some point, sad to say
