No qualms with the energy levels tonight. But we were just a bit casual at the end of the first half and switched off a bit and even a small dip in your level can make a big difference at this level. That is the problem with playing such a way, youβve got to be on it all the time. Few changes to the starting line up maybe unsettled us a bit and made us a bit less assured than our usual selves.

It is true that Ake does not make the team a lot, to get him to “next level” he needs more game time. He is not a bad player, as long as Pep keeps him in squad he must think he is good enough and that is good enough for me.

Mikuis, Gomez just that fraction out of position playing the high line and it cost us twice mate. What did you make of him? First game back and really needs minutes to get up to speed. He will start againest Norwich next week
Salah is really on top form. That wasnβt an easy finish.

Thatβs the worry Sean, that weβre just too dependent on Van Dijk (at both ends of the field). I think Klopp was right that we got carried away towards the end of the first half but the concern was nobody on the pitch identified it, perhaps Van Dijk would have done.
I think Gomez has good pace but is perhaps not as good a reader of the game. Whereas I think Matip doesnβt have the pace but is a better reader of the game. But neither are an organiser or leader like Van Dijk is.

Delighted with that performance. some questions to be asked but the positives were far bigger than the negatives, in my opinion. we got carried away for sure and should have been more reserved. Thats a lesson that came with us still getting 3 points though.
without VVD, we were definitely a bit more like the nearly Klopp team but there was a lot of the PL winners in that too. We needed to quicken the tempo our the final phase of our play and then not pour forward quite as much. That’s it for me. Only having one of our usual front 3 though, it’s understandable. Ox came on and did absolutely nothign useful again though. Just stop playing him Klopp, please.
Pleased Hendo got a goal, it might spur him on a bit. I felt he was kinda poor again today but that was a big big goal and very nicely taken. Thiago is still not quite there also, Keita was invisible . best origi has played for us in years. still dont think he’s good enough but he got an assist .
Would liked to have seen Konate tonight but oh well.

Not sure I really agree with that. City’s reliance on KDB is not that huge and yet I rate him as the best midfielder in world football right now. They play equally as well without him.

Foxy, city arenβt reliant on Kdb as they have a billion pound squad. They are dependant on really no one but when Laporte was out two years ago , people said thatβs why city didnβt really challenge ????

Sean thats partly true. We also had Stones injured at the same time. There is a direct comparison with Liverpool last season. No VVD no real challenge.
As for the crowd? City fans are not that bothered with the CL unless it is v a top team. Also there is another game this Saturday. Its expensive.
Tell you what. I bet Harry Kane is pissed off he isnt playing for us!
