Just 18! Becoming the first British woman to win a major grand slam, the US Open in 44 years.

      *Fully Deserved*

Incredible self belief and maturity at such an age. She’s only just done her A-levels too I believe. And she had to pull out of Wimbledon earlier in the year. And she had to qualify for the tournament. Just an incredible comeback and story. I certainly couldn’t have dealt with and done all that at 18.

Without dropping a single set, too. Incredible story.

I am not a big tennis fan but I watched this, incredible tournament for her, this was no fluke this was the result of talent, hard work and a passion. I hope she keeps herself well grounded and not let the media get to her too much. This surpasses `Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and all the rest of them just because it was natural, no gimmicks, props, just her doing her thing, on her own out there on a court

Indeed Brian, so refreshing to see. But as you say, the media attention on her will now go through the roof, as will the expectation in every tournament going forwards. She seems very grounded, but vital her team works day and night to keep her that way.

Certainly feels like we will be seeing those 2 in a few more finals in the coming years. Could be a golden age for the Womens game dawning. As sensational as Serena is/was, there was never any competion, especially when her sisters back went.
