Mikus , I think it will lead to more goals and will punish teams for sitting back on one goal leads because odds are relatively high that something will go the attacking teams way at some point if we are going to see most games go far beyond 100 mins.

Man City need a Salah or a Jota. Haaland kept quiet and no real cutting edge in majority. Obviously this is all read into after on game, but the impression I get is having lost their attacking midfielders, how defensive they’ve become and shutting up shop than playing the high-press.

Looking back in analysis, it was an interesting and intriguing parallel drawn.
Pep loses 2 attacking midfielders; he signs Kovacic and then Josko Gvardiol.
Look at the line up today, the set up and implementation. I think as far as normal time was concerned, Arteta really should have unleashed the shackles. I dare say though, maybe Arteta thought this was too good to be true to try and exploit using their own range of attacking quality.
Keeping those 2 wide men quiet, having nobody creative as a driving force in midfield; where does that leave Haaland?

Have to say, I think I’m with Pep & Varane on this (though I do wonder if Pep & Arteta would have said the opposite if the result had been opposite & City had scored late on 😆).
There is already power given to the referees if a player is wasting time. At the same time, players need to have the odd breather here and there. I think it’s another case of the bureaucrats in the game looking purely at the stats of “ball in play game time” and trying to make everything “right” again, without the context of reality. This is going to put more strain on the players even if it does potentially make for more exciting ends to games – but given entertainment/excitement is the name of the game, I suspect it will be here to stay.

Glorified friendly adlab and we know this game traditionally counts for little regards what is to come in the season ahead.
Always nice to win but you are right in that if the penalty shoot out went the other way the narrative would flip 180 degrees and all they are going on is the result of the shoot out 😆

I went to watch “Oppenhiemar” instead… (enjoyed it immensely too!)
I’m for anything that makes “timewasting” pointless in the game… injury time “tactical” subs being the worst… get on with it… remember Spuds vs the Bone Saw Boyz last season, first half, about 22 minutes in, the game still tied and 0-0… and the Bone Say Boyz took over 90 seconds to take a goal kick… taking the piss… drives me up the wall…

Have seen reviews that it isn’t as perhaps quite as accurate as it could have or should have been, but from a pure “enjoyment” point of view I thought it was a jolly good movie. Makes the viewer question their own internal morals (as you do!) about the whole point of nuclear weapons and suggests humans can be a bit stupid…
