It´s not a surprise that the higher ups selected Iraola to manage the immediate future, we have been building up to this formation for the past 2 summer windows if not the last 3 actually.
Some of you don´t see a plan but here is Kerkez that excelled under Iraola, we got a similar midfield except world class talent, then we are building a offense around a new system where we do not need inverted wingers and you can´t see it.
No matter how many clues you see, about our potential profile for a player on the right, despite us buying Munoz, despite Iraola playing right footed wingers on the right. You just refuse the evidence and then compare these wingers to what Klopp wanted from our wingers.
Back then we had Bobby who is my favorite player of all times, IMHO he was better than Gerrard, he was even better than Daglish as a player. A false nine that dropped into midfield while we had two inverted wingers that made use of any space he created.
We saw much of the same with Diaz as a false nine except he liked to drift to the left wing way more than Bobby, which worked as Gakpo would cut inside into the space Diaz created. Then we had Salah in his twilight years just being smart with every touch he made on the ball. Like he knew he could not run at defenders like he used to so he just waited for his moments to create something for others or himself. Just a player evolving.
We have moved away from those inside cuts, we are trying to stretch the opposition, to make space for that fourth forward.
3ps pointed out the carries Barcola makes every game, I tried to explain how many carries actually end up in a shot on goal.
It does not really matter which flank he operates as long as we get two transitions which end up in a shot on goal. We are discussing outdated tactics vs the new one.
