Elliot didn’t play any minutes last season so no need to moan about replacing him. Jones did, but Nyoni can replace him. Yes we had Nyoni last season but he’s a year older and that makes a difference at his age.
I’m not worried about the midfield numbers, I’m worried about their profiles. All our senior midfielders like to get forward, and none of them are particularly strong defensively. That’s why we needed someone else in midfield, not to replace anyone.
Last season we didn’t recruit on the left wing because apparently we didn’t want to hinder Rio. This summer we recruited two left wingers. Do now we have 4 senior left wingers including Rio and zero on the right. That is shockingly bad recruitment especially given we knew about Salah since March.
Right back is also a major concern.
