I’d have to agree with Sean’s sentiments. This is the reality of where we are and where the work needs to be invested in. Frimpong and Kerkez don’t look like 90 min players. We’re still quite dry on goals because of different areas of the pitch where they used to come from before and don’t any longer. One example: Midfield, albeit Zobo.
Frame this to one side: You look at Rodgers’ Team 2013/14 and we had a flurry of goals coming from Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Gerrard, Coutinho; with now and then contributions from Lovren, Skirtel, and Emre Can.
This outweighed many a time our leaky defence so it was enough for a Title charge playing only 1 game a week.
Iraola has Champions League which I’m sure he will want to succeed in, but all the time on his mind, he’ll be thinking whether he’ll have a fit enough 11 available for selection.
Sure, we are moving in the right direction since May, but we are still short of a fully functional 11 we can really be filled with Confidence.
