I´ve never been a fan of Gakpo, I even thought Nunez was better on the left than him, I think Diaz is twice the player Gakpo is. I was never a fan of playing Diaz as a false nine but it worked, cause he created so much space with his flair and work rate. He created every chance Gakpo got that season, he created the space that Gakpo could cut inside on his favored foot. Cause Diaz always drifted out wide to the left, meanwhile Gakpo sat in that pocket and waited for the space to open. Gakpo also hardly tracks back into his own half, he prefers to sit on the shoulder and the strange thing is that he is not capable of running at the defense from that position, he can hardly hold up the ball in that position as the only thing on his mind is that pocket of space where he can cut inside on his favored foot. Sweden should know how to deal with him like 97% of the league does.
