Let me clarify what I mean by the “right decision”, I mean the right decision for Liverpool FC based on FACTS, not opinion.
For example, how can you sell one of the best left-wingers in the world Luis Díaz, and not replace him, with a top winger like Barcola, Olise, Semenyo or Diamande, if they were available? In fact we should have just kept Díaz and paid him what he wanted – he’s on £235k/week at Bayern and he’s totally worth it, as he’s already shown.
Or, how on earth can you pay £125m for Isak, yet all top strikers last summer were going for £60m-£80m, and no way is Isak that good to justify this hefty £45m premium, especially as he’s highly injury-prone.
I always give the example of his countryman Gyökeres, is Isak really worth almost double his price (£125m vs £64m), yet Gyökeres has better stats then him, and is far more robust, rarely injured.
And worst of all, why sign two top highly priced No. 9’s, Ekitike and Isak, to compete for just one starting place.
