It’s how a lot of clubs now operate nil. Thing is with a recruitment team buying the players, the assumption is you’re putting checks on the manager, but all you’re doing is moving the power from one person to another. A bit like VAR – the assumption is you’re putting checks on the referee when all you’re doing is giving the power to another person who can also make mistakes.
