Essentially it happens frontline on the pitch. Not every week, but every so often when the team is not on form and on a winning streak.

The problems highlighted ala the thread title are there there’s no mistake. We definitely in my opinion do not miss Henderson!

Transfer windows are more challenging than ever. Overall, I feel a club Manager beyond his own team (Assistant Manager, First Team Coach etc) needs support, knowledge, input and guidance in the direction of Hierarchy within the structure (not really seen or heard of the Chief Ex).

Club Manager essentially must be flexible, adaptable and prepared.

In evidence, we proved to fall short and because of our deficiencies, and opposition clubs readily so far have taken advantage like duck to water as a result.

I do feel for the next game we need to just give it our all and grind out a win – play for each other and be able to control the game mentally.

Don’t forget tactics, we need a plan B because as mentioned teams have picked up on how to get points from us. We can no longer rely on gengenpressing to be our only tactic.
Add to what you have mentioned we have no spine, no foundation & absolutely no balance in the team.

          Absolutely dead on Oz Yob.

I’ve never bought into this ‘Gengenpressing’ as something exclusive as Liverpool traditionally are a attack-minded and threatening in their footballing philosophy. The difference and such similarity to Brendan Rodgers is the tempo is at a greater intensity.

There is an extra weight of expectation for players to retain physical fitness, train more throughout the week, and stay injury free.

Plan B or alternative strategies not only can overcome challenging teams and achieve results, but also allow players to catch a breath (or two).

Opposing teams well-drilled at the back resist our pressing and exploit us when presented with an opportunity. This is where we need to be able to slow it down a bit, be patient and be smart. Playing in a constant hurry can impair the overall quality, especially when crosses are fired in willy-nilly with no actual striker or a top quality striker to head the ball into the back of the net.

One thing I’m more than confident of is Liverpool will not be in the top 4 come seasons end.

              Oz Yob,

it’s fair to accept that the landscape has now changed as far as the Prem goes.

If you think back to the sort of early years of the Rafa era, we would have clinched 4th but on a lower point margin (off the top of my head from previous study of tables 58-71 points).

Add to that significantly the fact that back then, we had a default ‘SKY 4’.

Now or for a fair few years, we have Man City and Tottenham who have pushed the bounderies and regarded as part of the ‘pack’ in finishing in the top 4.

If you think back to last season, although City got off to a flyer, at one point, they were struggling to make the top 4. So although against Liverpool. there are teams out there with more depth in quality, they ultimately have to be the team consistently delivering because there’s other teams out there ready to capitalize.

Based on this, attaining a place for a CL qualification is difficult and more of a challenge than previous seasons.

I reckon back in the days of the old “Sky4”, the financial advantages of also getting CL money kinda kept those clubs in those positions but now, with the combination of this ridiculous TV deal along with certain clubs almost having unlimited funds, there’s a few clubs who with some smarts moves can also compete at that end of the table.

This year, 6 simply isn’t going to go into 4, which ever way you cut it.

Still think that maga-November period is where we’re really going to see the metal met the meat. Every club is going to find out the hard way how good their squads are, and I’m just reasonably greatful us Spuds don’t have the worst set of fixtures by far.

                  Good shout Chucky.

The gap financially has narrowed because of the TV money where as monies previously would be relied upon securing a place in the CL and being involved in the tournament as long as possible.

There are naturally clubs who have a tight budget (e.g. Newcastle), but there’s a lot of clubs now more than before not only have investors, but TV revenue.
