I watched this and cannot argue with any of it.

Note that Lampard coming in also with Ashley Cole and in the next 6 or 7 weeks they will have a good look at the culture there at the moment and which players would put their bodies on the line, put in 100% for the club. Azpi has it, I thought Mount had it, James has it but Azpi is past it now and can’t be out there to gee them up and get the best out of them. Silva also has it but is on his last legs too. We need a real leader on that pitch. At least now we have guys with that Chelsea DNA off the pitch. In this short period leading up to the end of the season the thing that has to change is the CULTURE. Add John Terry to that new management team and the passion would be overflowing. At the moment I get the impression, to many of them, it is just a job. We need more than that.

Good post there Nil πŸ™‚ I was thinking that Frank has nothing to lose and everything to gain having a crack at this with 10 matches left plus a Qtr final of the CL. We are likely to end 11th now, even this far out. The issue will be the bloated squad and any disenchantment already festering within. Mason Mount was always Frank’s favourite. A lot has happened with Mason’s career since then. No contract signed and frozen out by Potter for weeks on end now apart from fleeting sub appearances late on. Maybe Frank will help resurrect Mason’s lagging career and encourage him to put pen to paper. That might be something positive to happen out of this disaster of a season.

Chelsea side selected probably close to the best eleven but Havertz continues to be a waste of space. Surely there is a goal in there somewhere from this group of players. Great to see Kante back. A vital component has returned. I’m pretty much drained this season but I’d like to see the club give our mate Paul some joy, I really would.

Certainly an awful piece of news and I am shattered my friend and I’m struggling to find the words to say in response. I thought your posts had lessened recently and was concerned for you that something was not the way you would have hoped. I am so sorry mate and hope that you get an opportunity to at least get out and enjoy the next few months and that you have plenty of family around you as well. I’m so so sorry Paul to hear this and will be thinking of you.

It is probably easier to take and accept this punishment at 3, 4 or 5pm than it is at 1, 2 or 3am. Maybe I should watch replays at 7am but it’s not the same as LIVE football I really do punish myself and keep coming back for more, At least Liverpool during the week starts at a more manageable 5am πŸ™‚

As soon as I looked at that line up v Villa I was thinking how odd it looked, especially around the central defence and the obvious waste of Reece James’s talents. After that performance which is flash but ends up with no end product (ie goals) and the standard goal or two conceded through poor structure and over commitment then a cracker which McGinn is well capable of we are back to where we were before that much needed Leeds struggling victory. It appears Potter may be creatively manipulating his own downfall. I didn’t want to consider that before but , well let’s put it this way, he isn’t doing himself any favours if he wanted to grow in the job and be successful with his strange selections..

Last 3 WWW Goals for 6 Against 1. The green shoots are starting to appear and some consistency. All because the reports out there were that Leeds and Dortmund were do or die for Potter. Potter reverted to a back three and the players responded, less changes than previously and out of nowhere we are heading in the right direction. Who to praise? You’d struggle to get anyone with an agenda to rethink. That is why I basically will only post here for the time being.

Way too early to suggest any turning of the tide. Leeds win 1-0 was still clunky and desperate, a real relegation type of battle but today and Dortmund a side that led 1-0 after the first leg and were on a super unbeaten run. Well that was gutsy. Sure, fortunate re the penalty and then the retake but Havertz also hit a post in general play and overall we created much more than them in this match and our defence generally solid. Cucurella played in a back three was a much better player. Leicester away coming up won’t be easy neither so lets see how that one unfolds. Maybe our fortunes are changing. I can’t wait for Kante to come back and free up Enzo a bit. We might then really be on to something.

So Auba (who is more of a recognised strike) not worth trying for a string of games from the very start in place of Havertz who does not appear after multiple opportunities have a clue but Potter keeps playing him as a false nine which appears a waste of time?

Right now though where we are at and the personnel we have got why Havertz instead of Aubabeyang from the start game after game? Surely Auba could knock in the odd goa compared to Havertz. Also get Kante back as soon as he is ready to go (not far off apparently) and move Enzo futher up the field in a more attacking role.

Equal second best defence in the League with Arsenal and Manchester City only conceding 25 goals and only behind Newcastle which has only conceded an incredible 17 goals. Problem is only 13th in goals scored and it is those that win matches and points. Something to build on and the potential to get back to former glories including top four finishes. It is not all doom and gloom but the majority of performances have been depressing as the players continue to look like strangers at times with little understanding or cohesion. I do understand where everybody is coming from with all their frustration but to point the bone wholly and solely at Potter is simply unfair in my books. Will a proper number nine make all the difference? Well keep picking Aubabeyang from the very start week after week as he has been with Havertz (in replacement) and let us find out.

So like Lukaku before him Aubabeyang also on the scrap heap and not considered that player. Both were purchased to fulfil that role so why have they both failed? Auba 12 appearances 1 goal only. Lukaku 2nd time around 26 appearances 8 goals. So frustrating for the club and us the supporters.

The way Chelsea 1 Leeds 0 unfolded was possibly the very worst outcome for the anti Potter brigade. For me Leeds played as well as Chelsea let them whilst for the quality of player on the field for Chelsea there was sadly very little improvement/progress made in witnessing a group of players that are in any real way gelling. It really was the experience of watching a relegation scrap and disregarding the potential talent on show. This result certainly appears to have brought time. What a frustrating side they are to watch. One goal, a header from a corner. For all their flicks and tricks they do not appear any closer to becoming goal scorers for fun. Collectively I keep thinking they have to be better than this surely. Well 500 million outlaid would suggest that.

This will be the breaking point for Potter if we lose this one at home to Leeds. I don’t know what to think any more. Surely if we lost this one he’d be out the door before the return leg v Dortmund so we can get the usual bounce and hopefully a great win. Stick John Terry in as Caretaker coach or even Frankie Lampard (if he’d consider it notwithstanding his past sacking) to at least give us some hope ahead until a permanent replacement is found and put in place.
