442 – one further positive. We still have a nice healthy pot of gold, well I hope we do, to spend on a whole host of quality players that I think will no longer cost what they were originally demanding in the transfer market, prior to this disaster we are going through. Here to be corrected.

has your lockdown closed down all businesses except essential businesses such as supermarkets. petrol stations, doctors, dentists, pharmacies? That is where we are very quickly heading if the statistics continue to grow. The morons letting 3,000 off of a cruise ship when there were known carriers is inexplicable.

For me the major concern confirmed by Mav is the re – infection which means this will go around in circles and if it doesn’t get the vulnerable the first time then there’s always 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on. The only answer right now is to develop a vaccine and fast.

Lock down here in NSW coming up. Fortunately at this point in time our restaurant business can still run but take aways and home deliveries only. That is a blessing as I was thinking the worst and total close down but could change at any time. The infection and fatality numbers needs to stabilise for that to continue I would think. Our NRL (Rugby League) is resilient (or maybe stupid) and plan to continue on until the Government tells them to stop. At the moment every team is staying together in isolation and following the protocol as required, but for how long? It must be tough on them to be away from their families all the time. They no doubt interact on Face Time to ease the pain a bit.

A real problem is that it has reached many third world countries around the world where it will run rampant and therefore will be around for a very long time. The minute any country relaxes it’s border security rules the risk of the disease reentering your country of residence will most likely be certain due to the massive increase in carriers around the world. Let’s hope it is a once only per person infection otherwise the elderly will need to be permanently protected from infection.

Not based on the comments in the articles I have posted on the Corona thread and the comment above by Nizaar Kinsella. This current season WILL be completed immediately it is deemed safe to do so. Here to be corrected but that is pretty much what it says which I assume was the decision announced.
“The rules state the season must be completed on June 1 BUT that will be extended indefinitely for this season.”

I read it that at the first opportunity to complete the season 2019-2020 ie. when it is finally deemed safe to play the game under whatever conditions at that time, that will be done before considering start and finish dates for season 2020-2021. Is that therefore not set in stone? The articles I have attached above suggest it is.

Congrats to all Liverpool supporters. The right decision has been made and you will be given the opportunity to win and claim what is rightfully yours.
The Premier League and FA have announced that all professional football in England is postponed until no earlier than April 30. The rules state the season must be completed on June 1 but that will be extended indefinitely for this season.

The right decision. That means Liverpool will rightfully be crowned Champions at some time in the never never.

Mak, fully understand your stance and frustration. I have said all along, that Liverpool should be allowed to play the next couple of fixtures that remain to mathematically win it. Maybe they could set a benchmark that the next three rounds only be played (a bit like a Duckworth Lewis) and all standings in the table upon completion of those three rounds decide everything including relegation. Put the clubs on notice of that arrangement and complete it. That could take a week in total with a mid week match. Noted that four teams have a game in hand. Complete those two matches also.

At least there is no contention on whether Liverpool could go through the Premier League season undefeated lads. That would just be another unknown which may have played on the minds of the Liverpool supporters and understandably 🙂

Wolves, Sheffield United and Spurs vying for Europa League spots and the extra revenue it brings. Current position 4 also contentious as we hold it however easily could have lost it if the season was completed. Three teams on 27 points equal third last and a relegation spot trying to be avoided. I pity those that have to make a decision. Any decision could end up in legal ramifications some where. All that apart from the payment of player wages etc etc etc. We could create an unbelievable list of what ifs. At least it keeps it interesting with no football happening I guess.

Hopefully this lightens things a little. Plenty of truth in it – Trump in the centre of it all as usual.

Maybe 999 they should also put the World Stock Markets in lockdown too before they totally crash and burn.

The NRL (National Rugby League) here in Australia are desperate to continue on with all matches from next weekend behind closed doors simply because the whole thing will go belly up financially if the season is greatly interrupted let alone canned. Our A League soccer is probably in the same boat and is continuing at this stage. Both codes were played out in front of the fans this weekend. A big worry for both codes but human life is the issue here. It will only take one player to test positive and their hand will be forced.

That would suit us nicely 999 with our precarious 4th spot and a tough run in.

OK thanks Pagan. Surprised they would not all follow suit considering the health issues at hand. I don’t think it will be long b4 they stop too. All it would take is one player coming down with it. Over here they played the full first round of the Rugby League in front of supporters however have already decided that moving forward the matches from Round 2 onward would be behind closed doors. I reckon, again, that will change once the first League player gets a positive test. Our A League football (soccer) is also unaffected with crowds attending at this time yet they have already canned our annual Royal Easter Show (which attracts huge crowds) and many other events like a Robbie Williams concert.

Genuine question here. All the big leagues throughout Europe postponed their matches yet I see lower leagues in England went ahead – the National League South went ahead in its entirety. How come?
