Mak, I think my posts demonstrate I’ve got absolutely nothing against Steven Gerrard whatsover in fact the reverse as my post above confirms.
Like you I think it’s the wrong move for Gerrard for exactly the same reason you do it looks like happening and if it does I can only wish Gerrsrd all the very best it would be good to see some of our previoysly best players going into management and succeeding and I hope Steven Gerrard achieves that. Cheers 999

Yet more nonsense Nil.
” I would like to see Gerrard become a great Manager heโs always been one of my favourite opposition players and I wish him every success in his managerial career but itโs a matter of historical fact that great players donโt always make great Managers and I would like to see Gerrard give himself the best chance of becoming a great Manager but joining Rangers who still have their own problems in a League completely dominated by Celtic imo is not the best way of him doing that.”

Chelsea have left it too late Sean and even if we win all our games Liverpool fully rested with a full team will beat Brighton in the final game of the season and then your goal difference kicks in but I hope we have a go win today and make next week’s game slightly more interesting. Still Mission Impossible bud and I would gladly trade places with you right now. Ethan? Ethan?
Is that you Ethan. ? Cheers 999_____________________________

I give up Nil. It’s pointless trying to point things out to you after these silly reactions of yours or try and debate anything with you sensibly especially if Liverpool are involved.
Paxton threw the towel in on here because he couldn’t deal with you anymore and I’m getting very close to doing the same thing.
You seem to struggle with the whole concept of a football forum which is to put up differing views to debate. If we all agreed there would be no point in the forum at all.
I think it would be a mistake for Gerrard to go to Rangers that’s just my opinion which I’m perfectly entitled to air without you claiming I’m trying to kibosh the move which in itself is completely ridiculous. Time will tell if I’m right if that’s where Gerrard ultimately goes.
Your comments on my Wembley post are a complete nonsense all I put up was an extract from an article in the Daily Exoress to try and throw some light on the taxpayers situation I made no comment on anything you had posted on the thread and I actually have made no comment on the Wembley situation whatsoever on the thread other than putting up the Daily Mail extrsct..
I really can’t deal with you anymore Nil you make things impossible on here on a regular basis the next day you apologise for it all and a few days later you do exactly the same thing again.

Nil, firstly I’m not your enemy Nil and I wasn’t disagreeing with you at all,all I was doing was giving my personal opinion of Gerrard going to Manage to Rangers!
In respect of last night I haven’t got the faintest idea of what you’re going on about my post was in response to the question on tax payers money being used for Wembley and having just read the article in the Daily Exoress that is what I put up which if accurate I thought might throw some light on the taxpayers money that was used for Wembley. It had absolutely nothing to do with what you posted whatsoever!!!
Truthfully it is getting more and more difficult to post anything on here without trying to second guess how you might overreact to it which is getting very tiresome and I’m beginning to believe Paxton probably had the right idea!

Nil, you need to try and get over being offended about objective views offered on a football forum just because they don’t fit into your “everything has to be wonderful in your Liverpool world.”
I would like to see Gerrard become a great Manager he’s always been one of my favourite opposition players and I wish him every success in his managerial career but it’s a matter of historical fact that great players don’t always make great Managers and I would like to see Gerrard give himself the best chance of becoming a great Manager but joining Rangers who still have their own problems in a League completely dominated by Celtic imo is not the best way of him doing that.
That’s not putting the kibosh on anything it’s an honest opinion given on a forum that is dedicated to the sharing of honest opinions!
If we all had the same opinions it would be a pretty boring forum mate!

Great players rarely make great Managers.
Lets see if Gerrard can become a great Manager but going to Rangers as big a club as they are and as well supported as they are given Celtic’s domination of the SPL which is unlikely to change anytime soon given Rangers current predicament is a risky move and might set Gerrard’s managerial career back before it’s even got started.
Milton Keynes Dons or a club like them would have been a better place to start and learn the role rather than in the goldfish bowl that Glasgow and the SPL will provide imo.

From today’s Daily Express:
“But critics point out the stadium was only built thanks to ยฃ161million in taxpayersโ and National Lottery cash.
Some fans fear it could end up being renamed after a US brand such as Budweiser.
Why is Wembley being sold? FA set to strike ยฃ1bn deal to sell stadium
Wembley Stadium: How Fulham owner Shahid Khanโs bid affects Chelsea
The new Wembley stadium opened in 2007 as a total cost of ยฃ757million after the old ground – scene of Englandโs 1966 World Cup triumph under captain Bobby Moore – was demolished. It was the second time the Government had spent taxpayersโ money on the site โ the first in 1920 when it decided to hold the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley Park.
Funding for the new stadium came from the FA, which secured huge loans for the project, as well as from Lottery-funded Sport England, which paid ยฃ120million, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport which put up ยฃ20million, and the London Development Agency, which contributed ยฃ21million.
There were calls last night for the money to be paid back if the sale goes through. Earlier this year the FA said it would finally finish paying for the stadium by the end of 2024 โ 17 years after it opened.”

I donโt think there are words that can describe Salah this season he has exceeded all expectations including almost certainly those of even Klopp himself.
Even though he started off the season so well and drew comparison to Messi I would never have expected him to be a candidate to win the Balon DโOr this season but he definitely is now indeed heโs joint favourite and if Liverpool win the CL as well they mught and he plays an important role in the Final that may well seal it for him and frankly it would be fully deserved based on his season.

27th April 2018 at 10:17 am in reply to: Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg – Liverpool V Roma – Tues 7:45 #21040Sean, as a Chelsea fan I would happily take Liverpool finishing 5th as it would likely open the door to Chelsea but hand on heart I can’t see it.
But you’re right the injuries especially in midfield are a worry and it limits the opportunity to rotate and with the intensity of the coming games that’s a problem and can lead to further injuries.
Whilst I understand your concerns re the Liverpool defence which at times can look vulnerable on the plus side Roma’s defence looks much more vulnerable and with your front three that will be telling imo.
But I do get as a fan that with these games it’s difficult to be relaxed until it’s all over. And then there’s the Final to contend with! ๐

27th April 2018 at 8:44 am in reply to: Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg – Liverpool V Roma – Tues 7:45 #21038Mak, personally I would be amazed if Liverpool don’t make the Final from here and from what I saw on Wednesday night they’ve got every chance of lifting the trophy in Kiev no matter whether it’s Real in the Final as currently seems likely or Bayern.
Having said that logic goes out of the window when you are a fan and worries creep in and Liverpool’s history is decorated with a remarkable comeback in just 45 minutes to win the trophy from 3 goals down and memories are recent of Roma turning over a similar lead v Barca just a few short weeks ago couple that with a defense that at times we all know can be a tad vulnerable and you can see why some Liverpool fans are still a tad wary.
Personally I think you’ll be fine it would take one helluva of a turn around in both form and tactics from Tuesday night even in the Stadio Olimpico to make the Roma team we saw on Tuesday anywhere near a match for Liverpool and then you have the pace and quality of your front three probably the best in Europe right now which I’m sure will plunder a goal or two for you.
Kiev beckons for sure imo but if you’re a fan of the team involved you can never enjoy these things until they are all over and the trophies won. Cheers 999

26th April 2018 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg – Liverpool V Roma – Tues 7:45 #21029Mak, there is worryingly a big chance of problems ahead of this match and after this match but there’s not a chance of UEFA playing this game behind closed doors.
Hopefully the Police can keep the Liverpool fans safe but even the enormous Police presence in and around Anfueld did prevent that poor guy from Ireland being attacked with Roma fans pictured holding hammers.

26th April 2018 at 10:00 am in reply to: Champions League Semi Final 1st Leg – Bayern Munich V Real Madrid – Weds 7:45 #21015Sean, having watched the Bayern v Real game last night on current form I think Liverpool are outstanding favourites for the CL now and I suspect Klopp would have been delighted with what he saw because Liverpool can seriously hurt both those teams imo.
I understand where you’re coming from though it’s never over until its over and defensively Liverpool can be vulnerable at times I think that’s the only worry you have over the next two games, v Roma though I think you will have too much offensively and assuming it’s Real in the Final as I said above you have the players to hurt Real again the only problems are defensively, Real’s experience of CL finals and the fact that they have a couple of players that can dig a win out from the jaws of defeat.
But I’ve had the feeling since Liverpool drew Porto that this might be Liverpool’s year. Impossible to enjoy it though until its all over and I get that. Cheers 999

As I understand it the only thing up in the air is that should Liverpool win the CL and finish in the top 3 and should Arsenal win the EL and thus qualify for the CL then the team finishing 4th place in the PL will drop down into the EL. Not sure what that does to the last EL place and Burnley?

25th April 2018 at 10:03 am in reply to: Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg – Liverpool V Roma – Tues 7:45 #20947Mav, I don’t think there is currently a better front three in Europe than Salah, Firmino and Mane.

25th April 2018 at 10:00 am in reply to: Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg – Liverpool V Roma – Tues 7:45 #20946Chucky,
I think you will find that what I actually said was Real are not the team that they were as many of their results this season prove as does their position in La Liga and the fact that Real are seemingly committed to a significant overhaul of the squad in the Summer transfer market confirms!
More gravy with that bone. ๐
