Sean, for me, I thought Isak was very poor last night, and even Gyokeres looked a better striker! I think his technique is poor, his physicality is non-existent, and his work rate is pathetic. All this is well and good if he is scoring goals, but he hasn’t done that regularly for over a year either. Must admit, last summer, I was excited when we got him, but I just don’t see anything in him. I’m hoping that’s it’s his lack of football and rustiness but I’m really having my doubts. Hope I’m wrong 🫰🫰but could be a very expensive mistake.

I get all the clamour for Jurgen to return, but I’m not sure it would be a good idea either for him or for the club. From his point of view, his legacy at Liverpool is behind only very few previous managers. There are only 3 managers in Liverpool’s history that can have an argument to be his equal – Shanks, Kenny and Sir Bob – so from his standpoint, why would he want to risk that reputation by coming back, particularly when the club is in it’s current situation? There is absolutely no guarantee he would be able to get a tune out of the present crop of players, remember what happened when Kenny came back for his second spell. We all 100% loved Jurgen and he loved us and the city, but we’re all fickle, and for that reason I would adhere to the old adage of ‘Don’t go back’.
And from the club’s point of view, appointing Jurgen would not be a move to securing a new legacy. It would, at best, only be an interim appointment. However unlikely it might be, the club have to go in to the selection process with the intention of having a new manager who will be there for a similar time as Jurgen was first time round.
If I was Jurgen, I wouldn’t come back. If I was interviewing him and he wanted to come back, I would be very tempted to appoint him, but only after ensuring that Xabi and any others they are looking at seriously are either not interested or not up to it.

I’m really not expecting anything good tomorrow, but by the sound of it none of us are. Wtf has gone wrong…the thing that worries me is that things seem to be getting worse…there’s not even a glimmer of improvement.
Anyway on to tomorrow. I’d start Ramsey and Gomez, Curtis in midfield with Grav and Dom, and Isak, Freddie and Cody up top, but we all know that won’t happen! For the first time last Wedns I sensed in the ground and real sense of disillusionment with Slot. Not felt that at Anfield since the final days of Brendan Rodgers.
On a different note, Sean, if you’re coming over for Brighton in a couple of weeks, if you fancy meeting up for a pint or two before the game, let me know. We go to a pub called the Halfway House 10 mins walk from the ground if you’re up for a meet up??

So little to choose between them for me. Salah’s numbers are maybe a little better, but Thierry Henry was just so good to watch…more elegant player in terms of running style and finishing. But as I say, not a ciggie paper between them. But I would also caveat that question by rephrasing it as greatest Premiership striker. There have been a few ‘greatest’ midfield players, and indeed defenders and keepers

Hey, threeps, I was thinking the same about Ed. It’s a bit strange he seems to have totally disappeared! I’ve been approving all the new posters as quick as I can. I vaguely remember Ed asking me to moderate many years ago, and it seems I’m able to approve all the new posters, so at the moment, I’m looking each day and approving all I can see. I’m guessing you don’t see the ‘waiting to be approved’ posts, so you can’t let me know if I miss any, but generally there seems to have 4 or 5 a day for the last week or so, but we could definitely do with the Ed back!

Looks like Robbo could stay after all, as Atletico are now after a different left back.
Think we can safely say, there will be no more incomings till one or two sales have been confirmed. The big ones are likely to be Harvey and Darwin. If they both go that should raise north of a £100m, but even with that coming in, I can’t see a massive bid for Isak. I think a centre back, probably Guehi, will come in, say £60m, and unless there is another large sale, I think that will be it for this summer. Make do with combinations of Diogo, Luis and even Wirtz playing as a either conventional centre forwards or false 9’s, and then go all out for Isak next summer maybe?

I would love us to Sign Isak, but in all honesty, I can’t see it, unless the player agitates for a move. It would be very bad optics for Newcastle to sell their star player just as they get in the Champions League. I think it’s more likely we’ll end up with Gordon, who, rightly or wrongly, I’m not bowled over about. If Gordon comes it would suggest that either Diaz or Gakpo goes, and I’d rather stick with them.
Home grown is an issue though.

Yeah, Ed, I agree with Alfie’s assessment of that penalty. There is no way VAR would have overturned that, whatever the ref’s decision had been. There was enough contact to instill an element of doubt either way…it certainly wasn’t a clear and obvious error. Though, frankly, nothing VAR does now surprises me!

Nil..I’ve got to pull you up on your ‘Kelleher is an absolute Liability. Please bring back Adrian’ comment. Talk about kneejerk reaction! While Kelleher didn’t have his best game yesterday, you can’t really be serious about wanting Adrian in. Kelleher is a young lad, who has not had a lot of football recently, but has great potential, if only to get Liverpool a decent transfer fee next summer, and Adrian is way, way past his best. Don’t you remember his last outings in a Liverpool shirt?
