JM/Blacky – still waiting. What would you do in Jadon’s situation?

Blacky – I understand your frustration.

But if you were Sancho, what would you do?

Jm – answer the question I posed, would you behave differently in Jadon’s situation?

Footballers aren’t trade unionists wedded to their local communities. What would you do in his position?

I’m not here to fight, or wind people up.

Chelsea players are put on long term, relatively low paid contracts. Hence they move on their players quickly, when needed.

The only ones Chelsea are stuck with are the United style Sterling/Chilwell signings. But no worries, we won the official club world club championship.

Aindro, for a game versus the likes of Palace and other mid table clubs, we need a Costa/Drogba style CF and that’s where I hope Delap comes in.

Drobga didn’t score too many in his first season, but once you disrupt these types of clubs with physicality up front, their plans versus us start to break down and we can win more easily. We can even start playing sexy football against them, but you have to have them second guessing. There was no Plan B until we put Delap on, and by that time the mechanics of the game are harder to change.

Yesterday we tried to walk the ball into the goal and it just won’t work against low block, organised mid-table sides until we teach them we can do something else.

Estevao was ok – but as I said before, our wingers were *always* doubled up because our play is predictable.

I do wonder what any of the critics of Sancho in this thread would do were they in his position? Calling him a cunt etc… Grow up. My own team is stuck with Sterling and Chilwell. They’re not cunts, they are players with contracts and who have families and the rest of their lives to think of.

Firstly, Footballers have a much smaller window in which to make money in their career, and not all can retire with big endorsements, or guaranteed managerial careers.

Secondly, I totally get the frustration being shown, but saying Sancho should do X or Y is pretty naive, when he knows what he can earn under his current terms.

His season at Chelsea wasn’t too bad, he scored some good goals, but he’s not worth his current United salary.

So, Chelsea paid 5m and walked away. He knows he can get 6 figures per week, and decent 6 figures, if he winds down his current contract and even if he sits in the reserves. He may even get more money for doing so as he won’t cost his new club a transfer fee. He’s a decent player and still young.

Which of you would act differently whilst getting paid 250k per week?

Same story as last season, the team have no idea how to break a team down when they deploy the ‘low block’. We get about 2/3rds of the way up the pitch and then stop; then the team plays the ball from left to right a few times before going back to Sanchez and starting over again. Why not just get the ball out wide and cross into the box as much as you can – that completely disrupts the opposition’s defensive shape and gets them thinking twice. The same ponderous possession football gets us nowhere against teams like Palace, and Palace have just shown the template to all other mid/low-table clubs of how to play against Maresca’s Chelsea.

Against bigger teams we will always get chances, space and opportunities, given the fact we do have an immense array of talent; but we need a plan for teams that want to sit with 11 men behind the ball.

Although Maresca deserves blame for this performance, he is right that we need a ball-playing centre back. Acheampong did well defensively but he played the most passes in the first half and we were toothless. Terry was someone who could hit a long ball and had a good eye for a pass, and Colwill is the same. We do need that.

I also think Delap would have been a better option upfront for this game – you need to switch things up and play long balls every now and then, and you need a CF who can occupy multiple defenders. Palace always seemed to be able to go 2 or 3 up against our wingers with Pedro up front. Hence they always checked back and we end up doing the horseshoe passing act.

                Not a good start.

Got away with murder with that disallowed goal.

However, Sanchez should have saved it easily. It wasn’t a ‘wonderful strike’ as the commentary I’m listening to suggests.

I have a sinking feeling it’s going to be one of those seasons again.

We need a new keeper, and we need a replacement for Colwill.

Aindro – not a bad lineup and I think you’re probably correct regarding Gittens starting. I don’t have an issue with that – bringing Estevao in gently is the right approach. I think Delap may get the nod though, as I believe a strong CF (i.e. Drogba/Costa style) is the gameplan in general. Jackson just couldn’t tick those boxes in that role.

More concerning is the disconnect between Maresca and the club over getting a new CB. I agree with Maresca – we need a stronger left centre back. I accept we won’t get a new keeper, which is a shame.

They seem to be going ahead with Garnacho from what I’ve read. However, Maresca has said a new centre back is a priority for him so it will be interesting to see who will crop up in the rumour mill. Branthwaite will be expensive because he’s English and recently signed a new 5 year contract.

Germany literally couldn’t invade Britain. The Royal Navy controlled the seas, and after the Battle of Britain, the RAF controlled British skies. After that the clock was ticking on Nazi Germany.

You’ve gone from ‘Far Right’ to ‘Right Wing’.

Reform and Musk are Right of Centre. They want strong borders, the people in their countries to be valued more highly than foreigners, fairness in society and government, lower taxes and law and order.

The Left want to separate us all by identity, raid pensions, raid wealth, tax us all to death, delete free speech and police our opinions. Who is the real ‘Far Right’?

Britain was fighting from day 1 and both the US and the UK outproduced Russia in basically every type of war materiel, and by a huge margin. Russia would have folded without support from the West, whilst the reverse can’t be said.

Germany had no way to invade Britain, having lost the Battle of Britain, and they weren’t winning in North Africa by the time of Barbarossa. It was a matter of time before they eventually lost, and that’s before we get onto the topic of Atomic Weapons.

Name one Reform policy which is ‘Far Right’.

And as for the salute, for every Musk that has flung his right arm upwards, I can find you a similar clip of Hilary, Kamala, Obama and Elizabeth Warren making similar gestures. Are they fascists?

Where did you read that, Blue?

I do think Simons is not a priority but I think the club likes to ‘stockpile’ forwards because they’re simpler to move on for a profit if needed.

But I agree, we have enough in the forward department, especially if we’re bringing in Garnarcho. \

Estevao looked pretty good, so coming in off the right we have Estevao, Neto and Palmer as options.

Off the left we have Gittens, Joao Pedro, (Garnacho), George and I would have said Jackson but it looks like we will be moving him on for a tidy profit.

I’m now a bit concerned about CF – Delap didn’t get many touches and we need a commanding presence if we’re going to succeed, otherwise we risk becoming Arsenal.

Russia suffered a lot of casualties but the amount of support they got in terms of equipment, cash and supplies during WW2 was off the chart. Russia would have been rolled over without Western support. Absolutely it was the West that defeated Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. The West didn’t ‘play a part’ in defeating Fascism and the Far Right – the West, and Britain most instrumentally, was the key reason Fascism was defeated.

Musk isn’t Far Right or a Nazi, he didn’t do a ‘Sieg Heil’ salute. It’s nonsense to suggest so.

Crying ‘Far Right’ or ‘Fascist’ when people ask for strong borders and the prioritisation of their own people over random economic migrants who rock up illegally in boats, is simply puerile and intellectually lazy. Britain has Marxists running the show right now and it’s no surprise that inflation is high, unemployment is rising and growth is stagnant.

Huge blow to lose Colwill – he has all the makings of a world class CB, as well as being left footed which is a substantial string to his bow.

In the recent friendly, we had Chalobah playing LCB and in the clips I saw it really seemed to reduce the fluidity of passing out from the back as he had to check back onto his right foot.

Hato is a LCB but I don’t like the idea of going into the new season pinning our hopes on a 19 yr old in the heart of defence..

Tosin isn’t a left sided CB, and neither is Fofana. In an ideal world we’d be playing Fofana and Colwill as our CBs.

Essentially, we need to sign someone and Maresca has basically said the same. Who that player might be is anyone’s guess though. As I said, it’s a huge blow to lose Colwill.

Aindro – it would be a shame to see George go; he’s done alright when given a chance without setting the world alight, but we could say the same about De Bruyne and Salah. However, with the various PSR/Uefa finance rules, selling him provides a substantially over-weighted credit to both metrics. The Uefa rules are particular dumb and basically encourage the farming of youth to be sold off at the right moment – how that makes football sustainable or tasteful is another matter.

Rover – agree, Nkunku needs to get moved on. It’s a shame we overpaid for him. We’re almost in the same boat with him as we are with Sterling/Chilwell except wages aren’t the issue, the original amount we paid for him was too high.

Garnacho for me is a younger version of Sancho, with the same sort of potential but coming (hopefully) with a much lower wage, so he’s worth a punt. I liked Sancho, and he scored some quality goals for us, but he would never fit the wage structure and setup so had to go. We mugged United with the 5m escape fee as that would be a normal fee for a loan anyway and they can’t seem to find a solution now.

Xavi Simons – agree with the comments above. Not sure what he adds, but then again I was sceptical about Joao Pedro and he scored some quality goals straight off the bat.

I take the point that others have made that Sanchez will be our keeper… with some regret. I also agree that we should move Disasi on.

Jackson can go as well… but then we do need a replacement, as Guiu has gone out on loan and if we lose Delap to an injury then we’re in trouble.

Blueisbest – Yes, it seems the strategy of ‘stockpiling’ talent on long-term contracts is proving to be a shrewd one. Along with the Club World Cup windfall, and the ability to strike a far better deal for a front of shirt sponsor having qualified for the CL and won the CWC, things are looking up financially. Tyrique George might be on his way as well. Chilwell/Sterling also need a home.

On the footballing side, I’d like to see us move Jackson on for a nice return but we would need to sign another striker.

Garnacho? At his age and with his potential, I wouldn’t say no, but I don’t want to see us spend too much.

Xavi Simons? Looks like it will happen and

Still need a better keeper and a CB (along with a striker if Jackson goes). I have a sinking feeling that we’re stuck with Sanchez though with the possibility of Penders taking over the season after this one. It will be interesting to see how Penders gets on because we won’t be winning the title until we have a GK of Cech/Courtois quality, and a CF of Drogba/Costa quality.

Rover – you are spot on. I could expand on the other ideologies you refer to, but I’m living abroad and don’t want to fall foul of the online safety act if ever I come back to England for a visit…

Pajero, I don’t want to get particularly political on a football forum, but it’s another example in UK society of Marxism in sheep’s clothing. Some comments on the powers:

Tough new financial regulation to improve resilience across the football pyramid to ensure clubs are sustainable for the long term.

Ed: Why just in football and not in, say, supermarkets or cricket clubs? Football clubs have, until the most recent era of some going public, been private enterprises with many falling by the financial wayside. This is simply govt overreach and another excuse for the govt to exert ever yet more control over daily life.

Stronger, statutory Owners’ and Directors’ Tests to make sure club custodians are suitable and aren’t using illicit finances with powers to force rogue owners to sell up.

Ed: There is already a raft of AML laws and checks and balances in the UK financial system. What can this new body find out that existing financial regulators and law enforcement fail to discover?Other than politically screening prospective owners out?

New standards for fan engagement in club decision-making.

Ed: Fans can do this by simply not buying tickets or starting grass roots campaigns. Imagine trying to implement this for Supermarkets or Car manufacturers.

Bars on clubs joining closed-shop competitions and breakaway leagues.

Ed: So clubs are stuck with UEFA and FIFA forever?

Backstop powers to ensure a fair financial distribution between leagues.

Ed: Maggie Thatcher: “The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money”

New statutory protections for key club heritage aspects like home shirt colours and club badges and stadium moves.

Ed: Same comment as before – imagine trying to enforce this with any other kind of private sector market.

This is nothing more than conditioning the country for ever greater swathes of socialism and should not be welcomed in the slightest.
