Aindro – I’m no fan of the current management at the club but as you mentioned, Maresca confirmed what they said. And he’s paying the club compensation. In the circumstances that have come to light, the club were right to put him out to pasture – note he wasn’t sacked, he was kept put on gardening leave so we could get compensation from City.
I don’t want to absolve Clearwater of any blame though – maybe the City job turned Maresca’s head because he wasn’t getting everything his way at Chelsea – i.e. no new Keeper, or experienced CB etc. On the other hand, maybe his head was turned simply because City are far better organised than we are. Either scenario doesn’t reflect well on Clearwater.
I’m hopeful that Xabi is taking this job because he wants to make it a success, rather than just hang around until something else comes up. He strikes me as a serious individual. He needs to be treated well and listened to – if he wants Xhaka, then just sign him. We have enough ‘investments’ on the book. It’s time for us to add some experienced steel to our midfield, central defence and in goal. And for the love of God, can we please go and get Osimhen.

Aindro – it was another shoddy performance. I expect a lot of leavers this summer.
Bingo – that’s a fair assessment. He will be under less pressure, and certainly I’m not expecting miracles next season. A top 4 finish would be an excellent outcome.
In a roundabout way, not having European football might serve him well – he will have more time with the team to train them and adapt the players to his system. We sure as hell didn’t need Conference League football again.
I’m also quite sure he took the job knowing full well we might not be in Europe.

Thanks for the comment Bingo. Alonso was unlucky at Real Madrid, where he had a good win %. That squad, however, is full of egos and by that I mean, wankers.
I know we all like the concept of fairy tales of club legends coming back to manage our clubs to success (We tried with Frank) but things are increasingly transactional these days and I don’t hold anything against former players doing what they think is right for their own career when they become managers.
And I agree, we have personalities that crave a proven winner which Rosenior was not. Rosenior was the budget option which fit the ‘moneyball’ model.
Thanks again for a non-partisan contribution. I hope Alonso does well and I believe he has the attributes to do so if he really is empowered as the reports suggest.

If someone like Ancelotti wasn’t available, then I feel that Alonso was the best option to go for, and it’s encouraginng to hear that he will get a level of control which exceeds what Rosenior/Maresca had, particularly in the transfer department. It’s the first managerial appointment made my Blueco that I feel I can get behind.
Regarding transfers –
We need a top class GK, a new CB to play with Colwill (Levi has been excellent since coming back) and a striker.
Osimhen would be an excellent option and I hope we didn’t burn our bridges last time round when we negotiated right down to the wire a few transfer windows ago.
Maignan…. agree with Aindro, a bit on the older side but I guess if we can get 2/3 years out of him that would be fine, especially if Penders is brought back and fulfils the potential apparently the club sees in him. I did, distressingly, read that Pickford was being considered – that would be disastrous as he’s rubbish.
CB – I’m not sure. We need someone experienced and quality to play alongside Colwill. If we are going to do 3 CBs as Alonso has done in the past, then we need 2 CBs. Acheampong is good, but still green and the other CBs (Colwill excepted) are not good enough.
Outgoings – I wouldn’t miss Garnacho, Delap, Neto, Chalobah, Tosin, Sanchez, Jorgensen, Disasi, Badiashille, Gittens etc. But if we did offload that lot, they would also need some level of replacement.
Aindro – I understand your apathy, I feel it too. But at least Blueco have done something right and seem to have changed philosophy towards the Manager role. Let’s see if they can stick with it though – my hopes are slim as they seem pigheaded and totally capricious, but one can still live in hope.

I watched the game. Don’t know why.
We were awful again, but when I saw the CB lineup of Tosin and Chalobah then it wasn’t ever going to turn out well.
Delap was all over the place. Absolute donkey.
It’s going to be very hard to attract a good manager and key players over the summer. Well done, BlueCo.

Aindro, you misunderstand me. I’m not saying that we should go for Conte or Mourinho, the point I’m making is that when we attracted. Mourinho, Conte, Ancelotti, they were all considered world class managers.
We can’t attract world class managers anymore, thanks to Blueco.
I would take Ancelotti in a heartbeat, he was extremely popular with the players when he was at Chelsea and his sacking didn’t make any sense really. Would he come to us? Doubt it these days.

It’s the right decision to sack Rosenior, not just for the terrible results and performances, but because he was never the right choice in the first place.
Now we’re linked with Iraola and Fabregas. Don’t get me wrong, Cesc was a fantastic player for us, but he’s managing Como. That’s not the same as Chelsea, as Rosenior found out. As for Iraola, he started his coaching career in Cyprus and is now at Bournemouth. He’s done a good job but not in the same context as a team like Chelsea.
The problem is that Blueco have flushed their credibility down the toilet. Can we today attract a calibre of manager in the bracket of Mourinho, Ancelotti, Conte etc, as we did in the past?
Can we even attract top players? By top players I mean proven, experienced winners; not ‘wonderkids’ that have been deemed so by Football Manager.
Who would want to come and join the Blueco circus, except for people who see it as a get rich quick scheme?
We’re out of the title race for at least a decade, because that is the length of time it would take for Blueco to regain any credibility, or for Blueco to be bought out and a new regime come in and clean things out.

It was a mistake to sack Maresca and then replace him with Rosenior. But Maresca’s time was up.

Well done to Frank for getting Coventry promoted.
If we’re going to give ridiculously long contracts to managers, I’d rather we give one to someone like Frank than Maresca or Liam ‘David Brent’ Rosenior.

I’m also reaching that point 1967.
I’ve read that certain players have been reassured by the summer transfer plans – which I take to mean that experienced players will be targeted rather than up and coming wonderkids.
However, which seasoned top player are we likely to attract without Champions League football and a coach who sounds like David Brent?
For all the money spent, we still need a keeper, 2 central defenders and a striker. May as well throw in a winger because whilst the likes of Pedro Neto put in a shift, they just aren’t good enough.
Not sure how this gets turned round without BlueCo f’in off.

Aindro – agreed on all fronts except I would go back and get Ancelotti.
Defenders don’t appreciate as an asset in the same way that attackers and wingers do – hence the lack of proper investment in that regard.
And then look at keepers like Kepa – we paid 72m for him and sold him for 5m… so you can see why the American asset management firm are trying to get that position done on the cheap. Madrid, Man City, Liverpool etc don’t go in for keepers like Sanchez or Jorgensen.

Aindro – I stayed up and watched the Everton game, it was dire.
All of the weird selection decisions are either driven by the medical team who limit the ‘minutes’ each player can play, or by Rosenior’s experience working as a mid-table French league manager/Rooney’s assistant at Derby.
The comment I’ve made about the medical team taking precedent was spelled out by Maresca, and Rosenior is already making the same comment. Rosenior played Sarr at RB against PSG because it worked reasonably well at Strasbourg apparently. Do we really want to set ourselves up like Strasbourg do against PSG?
It’s a joke – no successful elite team is run by the medical department or managers who are referencing their experience working for Championship level outfits.
We own some of the best and most expensive players on the planet. They need to be managed by elite level coaches. We won the Premiership or Champions League under the following: Mourinho, Ancelotti, Conte and Tuchel. Di Matteo was the outlier, but at that time we just had an amazing group of leaders and personalities in the squad. The point I’m making is perfectly valid in any case.
Could you imagine Mourinho/Ancelotti/Conte lasting 5 minutes under this current ownership structure? Players like Terry/Cech/Carvalho/Gallas/Lampard/Drogba etc etc, were treated like football players and not like financial assets sitting on an Excel spreadsheet.
It’s just weird what is going on at Chelsea; we’re being run into the ground.

We’re utterly diabolical. It’s clear that appointing Rosenior was a terrible mistake.
Enzo is openly saying he might not stick around for next season and who is to blame him? If he goes, we will see an exodus of players like Caceido and Palmer. Other top players like Estevao will quickly find an off ramp, as will the likes of Cucurella and Joao Pedro.
These ‘mastermind’ long contracts only mean we can get decent resell value, they don’t mean we can keep unhappy players against their will.
And how can we replace them? Even if we get good fees for them, who would really want to come and play for us under Rosenior and the current ownership??
We had a chance to hire a really top manager once we offloaded Maresca, instead we blew it and hired an untested coach from the French league who has no top level experience. In terms of points we are closer to West Ham in the relegation zone than we are to Arsenal.
My interest levels are quickly dropping off with this current setup, we’re not a joy to watch at all. Pre-Abramovich Chelsea were far more entertaining and good to watch than the current dross we are subjected to. It would be one thing if we were winning with this utter turgid style of play, but we’re not even doing that.
Something has to change.
But it won’t.

We’re pretty quiet these days, but then I guess we are in No Man’s Land!
Rosenior seems to be filling his time with talking about social issues.
I guess we’re hoping for Top 4.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor – not unusual for him to be in custody for 11 hours. The Police will get an initial account from him in interview and then download and investigate whatever they found at his properties. He hasn’t been mistreated. There’s a long way to go.
I know some guys who served with him in the RN. He’s a typical second son of a Monarch – well-treated, loud-mouthed, cocky, and made the most of his position. In times gone past he would have been married off into Russia or Greece, and we would have never heard of him again. These days we have the media, cameras, and the internet.
He’s a cocky buffoon. No better/worse than Mandelson. 2 Blokes who were annoyed when Esptein was taken down because they lost an influential friend that amplified their own influence. Idiots.

Asiansentation – Where I live, they wouldn’t start to try and drive out foreigners who pay tax and don’t draw on the state. So what’s your point? Reform aren’t saying they would drive out tax-paying, net contributing foreigners.
Dublin ‘convention’ – so you’re saying that leaving a convention that saw us able to deport less than 2,000 people over more than a decade was why people flooded the UK? Come on, this is moronic. They come to the UK because there is no political will to stop it. The Tories were seduced by the idea this would help goose GDP growth, and Labour/Greens just see them as their next voters. Don’t be so naive.
Trump has completely reversed migration and in doing so has reduced inflation, seen wages grow, unemployment reduce and basically seen the complete reverse of everything people opposed with respect to his immigration policies predict. His policies on trade and migration have been a huge success.
You’re literally gaslighting people on the how access to benefits and the NHS works for migrants. It’s so disingenuous it’s puerile.
Anyway, thanks for giving us a taste of what you think British culture is. Hopefully you now feel very stupid for demanding a British person to explain their own culture to someone, when you apparently already know. I’ve lived in several countries, and I would never dream of demanding my host country to explain their culture to me. On the contrary, I respect foreign cultures, I engage, I enquire so as to increase my own understanding and, I reiterate, I respect. There is very little respect for British culture – what we see is sectarian bullshit from certain cultures, masquerading as socialism and ‘progress’.

Adidas and Chucky –
Interesting to hear your thoughts.
Britain and the Nordic countries are not, in my estimation, useful comparisons. Britain is a permanent UN Security Council member that maintains a nuclear deterrent and has overseas commitments and responsibilities. What I’m getting at is that there are different budgetary pressures.
Adidas – I’m increasingly becoming impressed by Reform. They have taken the right Tories from the Conservatives and their operation appears slick and well-coordinated. Their rhetoric hits the right notes but if they achieve power, things are going to be chaotic because they will be confronted by a civil service blob that is lefty in nature & by design.
It will be a painful process, but one which the UK needs. Reform have a good mix of business people and small ‘c’ conservative politicians who can point the UK back in the right direction. But it will be messy, as it is in the US right now.
Tax – in the UK, tax is way too high. The welfare and NHS bill need to be brought down quickly. When I explained to my non-UK wife what taxes are paid in the UK, the blood almost drained from her face. With Labour and lefty types discussing things like wealth taxes, the whole situation is almost dystopian. Wealth Taxes and Inheritance Taxes basically mean that the Government does not believe that your money is yours. They believe it’s on loan to you until they want to take it.

Asiansensation – I may have voted Tory in the past but never again. As for your point about me migrating to another country, I’m not really sure what you’re getting at? Before I emigrated from the UK, I served my country and put myself in harm’s way on a number of occasions.
Having moved abroad, I’ve not extracted a single dime from the system that exists where I live. On the contrary, any medical treatment I have received, I have either paid for or had covered through medical insurance, adding precisely zero burden to the health system. I have also paid substantial sums of tax to the government. I’m the type of migrant that the UK should be targeting. Instead, they drove me, a proud Brit, away.
Meanwhile, the UK puts illegals up in hotels whilst veterans languish on the street, some of whom Starmer has, on a pro bono basis, tried to prosecute for their service. There is a seemingly bottomless pit of money for the very same illegals that have fled their countries of origin, and who somehow fail to claim asylum in any several numbers of safe countries they travel through before arriving in the UK.
And an extraordinary proportion of these illegals when they do arrive, immediately ask for NHS medical treatment (for which they are prioritised) backed up by Doctor’s letters from their home country written in perfect English and which document a very precise treatment plan. Funny how they managed to find the time to see a Medical Consultant whilst fleeing for their lives. Many of them, by the way, then go on to sexually abuse British children.
The UK is also far too lenient when it comes to people sponsoring dependents, which normally means 1 foreigner can sponsor his wife, his parents, his wife’s parents, and their children despite only earning a single income. Once they all arrive in the UK they can quit their job and live off benefits and access housing for all the dependents I just mentioned. They also all access the NHS and other public services such as education.
None of this has anything to do with Brexit. These are choices that successive British governments have made, again on the advice of the Treasury – an unelected blob that deems mass migration to being the key to economic growth. The Dublin Framework, the point about which I made I note you failed to address, had nothing to do with mass illegal migration. By the time of Brexit, we were a net *recipient* of asylum seekers under the Dublin Framework. How such a situation can arise when we’re an island off Northwestern edge of the European continent is unfathomable. It is successive British governments’ slavish attitude towards ‘Human Rights’ that is to blame. No doubt your instinct will be to reel off the various tenets of the UK Human Rights Act (HRA) that Blair implemented almost immediately upon reaching power – but let’s be clear, slavery, murder, torture, degrading treatment etc… were already illegal before the HRA was enacted. The HRA was the legal profession creating a new industry for itself which people like Starmer, Hermer, Cherie Blair etc have profited from massively.
The answer is pretty simple: exit the ECHR, and send illegals back forcibly. Restrict benefits to citizens. Extend the Indefinite Leave to Remain qualifying period to 10 years, and make it only achievable if the individual can pass an advanced English test, has been in work for that period of time and can pass a test regarding British culture, laws and customs. You may just find that the boats stop arriving if this was implemented.
Labour have been an unmitigated disaster. And the recent scandal with them reversing a decision to illegally cancel elections is just staggering – they were going to illegally cancel elections. Read that again. They were going to illegally cancel elections.
But apparently it’s ok to u-turn on that because their legal advice has changed. It’s just moronic. At this point they’re starting to lose legitimacy which is a really dark place for the UK to venture into to.
And your question requiring me to explain what British culture is…. this is precisely the problem.
Why should I, a British citizen, explain to you what British culture is? What a despairing display of entitlement you’ve just put on. Learn our culture, integrate with it, and contribute. Is that too hard?

Ratcliffe got his numbers wrong but he was basically correct in what he said. Britain is being overrun my migrants, and the reason is that the Treasury have convinced successive governments that the only way Britain can achieve GDP growth by increasing the population. Now that Britain has Marxists like Starmer, Reeves, Milliband etc at the helm, it’s no wonder that things are even worse. They want to delete British culture.
Someone mentioned that Brexit was the reason for mass illegal migration because we no longer ‘benefited’ from the Dublin ‘Convention’. What a complete joke. That framework never benefited the UK – during the entire time Britain was a party to that framework fewer than a few thousand illegals (bearing in mind more than 50k boat people are entering each year) were deported under the Dublin Framework and by the time Brexit came around, the UK was a net *recipient* of asylum seekers.
Brexit was a Sovereign decision and has been vindicated given how weak the EU’s economic performance is and the way they seek further to delete national identity and increase their undemocractic influence over the bloc.
Britain has been betrayed by its civil service, the Treasury and undermined my woke/leftist politics. Starmer should be gone by now, but the current crop of Labour politicians are a bunch of self-serving piss-weasels that only care about sitting on the gravy train for a few years longer, rather than acting in the national interest.
